Absolutely no energy

How are you ladies dealing with the lack of sleep/being exhausted?

I'm just so tired all the time that I can barely move off the couch the last few days.  My husband and I have been pretty good about doing shifts with the baby at night, plus even my MIL has been over during the day to help give me some relief during this week.

I can barely keep my eyes open at this point and I feel like a zombie! I can't even drag my butt off the couch the last few days. And I think from all the lack of sleep, I have a constant headache that does not go away.

What do you do to combat being this exhausted? How do you deal with it?

Re: Absolutely no energy

  • Gotta keep hydrated, nourished, and rest as much as you can in the daytime. In addition to still taking pre-natals I take a B-12 injection monthly, and an extra iron supplement too. I am still tired, but it is manageable. We will see if I am still singing that tune in a couple more weeks!

  • We've been co-sleeping and nursing in bed, so I've been getting a pretty normal amount of sleep and night time awakenings are minimally disruptive.  We tried a few nights with separate sleep spaces, but we weren't getting any sleep.  We co-slept w/ DS and it was a good experience so we were comfortable doing it again.  The first night she joined us I felt awesome the next day!

  • I will never forget being in a bookstore when my first son was a couple weeks old pulling every baby sleep book off the shelf and reading through them on the floor. I was a total zombie and desperate for this child to sleep at night. It was so hard! The best thing I did was put him on a feeding schedule and develop a bedtime routine ( I know many people don't agree with that but it worked for us) He needed to be fed frequently during the day so he wasn't so hungry at night.

    It gets easier I promise!!
