Weight loss with delivery?

My body gains what it wants to with each pregnancy no matter how healthy I eat.  I definitely don't try to diet. 

I had a c-section with DD and so far I'm down 18lbs in less than 2 wks.  I'm sure a lot of that is DD's weight (8lbs-4oz), reduction in blood volume, and amniotic fluid.  Just curious what other peoples experiences are? 

Btw- I still have 25+ lbs to go to get to pre-pregnancy weight and I know things will slow way down.  BFing helps though :-)

  • LO is 16 days old and I've lost about 35 lbs. I gained 40 total. I've been breastfeeding and pumping! And obviously not dining out.

  • I gained 55 during my pregnancy and lost exactly 20 so far. DS was born the night of the 16th.

  • I've lost 15 and have 30 to go.  Last time the last 15 wouldn't budge without a pretty strict diet even though I was breastfeeding and I'm pretty sure the diet had a negative impact on my supply.

    I've already been browsing the weight watchers site... I hate the postpartum body.  But I have a feeling that for now I should just accept it

  • OMG!  I am so encouraged by all of your stories of weight loss...every one of you.  That's AWESOME news and can't wait!  I have gained about 25 lbs through this pregnancy, and have all intention to EBF so I'm psyched.  Keep up the good work!  Yes

  • I haven't been weighed since a week after LO at an appt., but I was only down 10 lbs. I was still really swollen from all the IV fluid at that point. I have lost all of that now, so if I had to guess, I would think  I am down 15 of the 25 I gained. I will not own a scale though.

  • When I came home from the hospital I was actually up two pounds and still very swollen.  I tried not to get discouraged.  When DD was 7 days old I was down 15 lbs.  Shes now 11 days old and I'm down 26 lbs.  I still have about 15 more to go and I am BF'ing.

  • I lost 10 lbs within 48 hours of delivering and 25 lbs within 2 weeks. I have 8 lbs left to lose and it hasn't budged in a week, however, I'm surprisingly happy with how my body looks. I'm back in my pre-pregnancy jeans (with some help from a Bella Band) and I figure the rest will come off eventually. I am breastfeeding.

  • I have lost 18. Lbs as of yesterday. My little guy is only a week old, I still have fluid on my lower half but it is going down ever day.... I am thinking of joining WW but I don't know when is a good time because I am EBF. Don't want to affect my supply- breast feeding is really important to me.
  • I forgot to add I gained 50 lbs during pregnancy.... I had 30 lbs extra when I got pregnant so I would like tco lose 60 lbs more.....
  • i gained about 45-50 pounds (supposedly gained 5 pounds between week 38-39)...how i have no idea being that i went to the gym literally every day...but regardless, i am pretty happy with how i am bouncing back. i haven't weighed myself in a few days but i was down 25 pounds at 8 days pp. i am EBF so i am not trying to diet but am eating as healthy as possible. it's funny how once i stopped being pregnant i immediately stopped liking everything i enjoyed during the pregnancy.

  • I gained about 20 lbs during my pregnancy, and have now lost about 23. I am down to less than what I weighed when I got pregnant, which I think I can attribute to EBF and no more eating out.

    I'm still not at an ideal weight...I had gained about 15lbs before getting pregnant and I'd like to lose that eventually. However, I am in no way trying to diet at this point and am just concentrating on eating enough and eating healthy to continue BFing. I figure I'll worry about the diet down the road.

    And, as for my body, I'm really lucky that with the exception of a couple of stretch marks on my hip - I seem to be bouncing back much easier than I ever expected.

  • I gained something around 50 lbs (give or take like a few) and I am down 60 lbs. A lot of it was from the swelling. Some of it too is that I don't have a lot of time to eat now that I have the little guy. 

    It SUCKS though because none of my pants still fit, even with being lighter than what I was before I got pregnant. I can get my pants on and keep them on with a belly band but it's still an awkward fit. I'm thrilled to have lost all the weight and some, but it sucks because I would settle for being able to wear my favourite jeans again.  

    So much of my weight gain was swelling though. I look at the last picture taken of me before I gave birth versus one from the other day and it's dramatic how much the swelling in my face went down....and I'm so excited I have ankles again. :)

  • I gained 35 pounds during pregnancy. Yesterday I was weighed at the Dr (only 4 days after delivery) and I had already lost 15 lbs! I was pretty happy considering I still had some swelling in my legs from the c-section. I am also breastfeeding and feel like my breasts weigh 10 lbs alone. Just hoping my stomach can get back into decent shape but I'm not expecting miracles overnight - I would be really happy if it was back to normal by the summer.

  • My daughter was born on Wednesday night and when I came home yesterday I was interested to see how much I weighed...I've only lost 10 lbs so far, but I'm hoping the rest will come off over the next few weeks.  I gained 41pds and was originally 120 pre-pregnancy...I would be happy to be back to around 125-130 when it's all said and done!

  • I gained 30 and lost 15 so far. I plan to diet and work out after the holidays. I know myself during the holidays, so no point in trying yet.

  • I am 10 days out and down 26 lbs. I still have about 25 to go to get to my pp weight, and hoping to loose even more. I am pumping and found that to be helpful.

  • I gained 19 during pregnancy. 1 week pp I was down 20 pounds. At 3 weeks pp I weighed in down another 15 pounds ... So I have lost 35 pounds since birth.
  • I had gained about 20 pounds...and at my one-week visit I was down 16 pounds even with swelling. I feel like I'm down some more now but my scale is broken so I'm not sure. I have some extra weight I want to lose too, so I'm hoping breastfeeding and staying at home while not eating out much for the next few weeks will help!

  • I gained 50ish pounds total. A week after delivery I was down 25. I have lost maybe 5 more since then (but that is a complete guess). I can't diet or exercise right now, so I will sit at this weight for awhile. I can get my fat jeans on, but my tummy flab hangs over and they are gross. Maternity clothes are too big and my regular clothes are too small. I 'get' to buy a new wardrobe when I go back to work in two weeks.
  • I gained about 12 pounds during pregnancy. I am down 20 pounds now. I feel great. I am breastfeeding and hoping to drop a few more pounds before I start hitting the gym to lose 10-15 more
  • I did not gain any weight while pregnant. Since delivering I have lost 30--so I'm down 30 lbs from before pregnancy! I'm not doing anything to try to lose it and I'm not BFing. I just bought jeans in size 16. Before pregnancy I was 22-24. I don't know where all the weight is going but it's great! I haven't been a size 16 since I started college!
  • LO is 2 weeks old and I'm down 25 lbs. I've got 10 more to go. I gained 35 lbs. this pregnancy.
