s/o of s/o: More bad name woes

I emailed DH this link a bit ago.  https://nameberry.com/blog/boys-names-2011-the-underground-popularity-list, and asked if there were any on the list he liked.  This is his reply:

"Basil?  Why did we shoot down Nathan, or did we?  Danger might be an appropriate name.  I pity the fool who names their son Linus.  Absolutely not Zion.  I like Cato as in The Cato Institute? "The Institute's stated mission is "to increase the understanding of public policies based on the principles of limited government, free markets, individual liberty, and peace. The Institute will use the most effective means to originate, advocate, promote, and disseminate applicable policy proposals that create free, open, and civil societies in the United States and throughout the world."   Or as in Cato the Younger .

Is he for realz?  HALP!!

(fwiw, I replied to him that from that list I like Alden, Anderson, Gavin, Rylan, and I kinda like Thatcher.  And a few others that I wouldn't jump to use because close friends have used them for their kids, like Cade and Brody and Quentin.  I also re-brought up Kellan... and blamed it on you all...  Embarrassed )

    Haha!  That's exactly what I was thinking too!  I've since realized DH is just being really punchy today and mocking my increasing stress over the unnamed baby.  Hasn't replied to my reply, but did send me this gem:

    I'm dismayed to see Anderson on that list.  Though, if you want to use it, I give you a big Yes.  It goes well with Logan.  But NOBODY else can use it.  Haha.

    Thatcher is very cool.  Nathan is nice, too.

    Really? My daughter's name is Margaret. I'm pretty sure no one in her peer group will ever put the two together.

    I would love to hear your DH's commentary on "Traylor."

    Traylor? Really? Why not Condo or Single Family Home while we're at it? Duplex? Kind of has a unique ring to it...

    Actually Margaret Thatcher didn't come to mind for me, but Becky Thatcher did (from Huck Finn), and so did Thatcher Grey from Grey's Anatomy... 

    Yeah, I'm kinda more into entertainment than politics...  ironic for someone with a Government degree, huh?  Embarrassed

    I'm amused that he pulled out the mission statement of the Cato Institute as support for a name.  I think you should suggest Brookings next -- I want to hear his reaction.  :)

    This is almost verbatim the conversation I had with myself when I saw Traylor. I also considered the poor kid named Traylor with a middle name Parker...oh the teasing of poor Traylor Park...

    How the heck did Edmund end up on that list?  It's in the 1000s on the SSA list.  I personally love it and would love to name baby #2 Edmund, if it's a boy.  DH is not so on board with it...but I have time.  ;)
