So, I totally won worst wife of the year in our first week of marriage. DH got up to use the restroom in the middle of the night and ran into the suitcase that I hadn't yet unpacked. I totally thought he just stubbed his toe and was all 'go back to sleep, it will be better in the morning'. Well, it wasn't better in the morning and after three hours in the ER, he has a broken toe/foot. And, yes, I totally go the whole 'SEE, I TOLD YOU SO!!'. Which is totally deserved. I'm an ass and feel awful. Luckily DH and I both got a good laugh out of it and he got some nice pain meds!
On another note, before the ER trip, I had an emergency appt. with my gastro doc for the Crohn's becuase its been getting really bad. I'm loosing so much blood that I'm severely anemic and just really sick from this crap. So he is trying Prednisone before looking at surgery. I'm really nervous about taking Prednisone and Googling the side effects hasen't made me feel any better. Has anyone taken it and if so, what type of side effects did you have. Thanks!
Re: Prednisone ? and I won worst wife of the year award this morning.
Prednisone makes me a little crazy and a little fat. Other than that, it's usually a better alternative than whatever it's attempting to cure.
DH often had to take prednisone during his flare ups. They make him swell up (so he looks fat - which is totally hilarious because he's a beanpole) and he's ravenously hungry and thirsty all the time. Other than that, he doesn't have many other problems.
Prednisone is *fine* when you aren't taking it long term (like every day for years). Don't google and trust your doc. It's much better to try and get this flare up under control than to have a bowel resection! believe me!!!
I had to take it with both of my pregnancies, with no issues. I did take it in the morning though, since it did make me a little wired.
When I picked it up, I must have looked scared - because the pharmacist reassured me that it was fine to take for a short term, and worked well
