DH & I finished up our testing cycle and had our "next step" appointment with the RE to go over all of our test results. I thought we would get into a treatment plan also. I was mistaken...
So, the doc proceeded to read off all of our test results and show us my HSG xrays. DHs SA was normal, actually on the high end of normal. brat. Now my turn...my bloodwork all came back normal, hormones, thyroid, etc.; HSG looked good, no blockages; my monitoring U/Ss all showed that my cycle seemed to progress in a normal pattern & I ovulated last month. Only concern was that on CD3 I had 19 cysts on on the right and 17 on the left & he kept referring to that as polycystic. He mentioned that with my family history of heart disease and diabetes that he thought there could be an underlying metabolic issue. BUT he wouldn't confirm PCOS, which confused me. He wants me to get a 3hr glucose tolerance test to see if there is, in fact, a problem. He also didn't even want to discuss what my treatment options would be until he sees the results. So, rather than walking out with a treatment plan, I walked out confused, with a script for a 3hr GTT.
Is this test typical in diagnosing PCOS? I had soooo much info swirling around in my head at the appointment that I wasn't able to come up with any questions.
