Tear Duct

Hello, this is my first "encounter" with a tear duct. My pediatrician told me he would have to have surgery at 6 months. Has anyone else had this "surgery" or does your baby/ child have a tear duct? I am looking to get experiences and some information as I am new to this. it seems to be getting bigger but not sure.

    Everybody has tear ducts. Does your baby perhaps have a clogged tear duct?

    My niece grew out of it - we would just put a warm wet cloth once and a while when it was bothering her.

    I just took my 2 week old to the doctor today, he has clogged tear ducts, doctor told me to keep using warm washcloth and massage the inside corner of the eye (tear duct)...and it may take quite awhile to clear up.  Unless the bottoms of his eyes are super red, she said no ointment or surgery needed....

    My 7 year old had a clogged tear duct as a new born. We were given an ointment it cleared up quickly.
