Trouble TTC

Hello Everyone...Can you give me advice?

Hello out there! I am new to the site and I am hoping to find some people out there with a situation like mine...I have been TTC for over a year now without any luck. I have 2 children already that I had no trouble with conceiving at all. The doctor discovered that I had a fibroid that is 10cm that is on the left side of my uterus, partially in and partially out. They said the fibroid should not prevent me from getting pregnant although it should be removed through surgery at some point, but since I am not done having children the surgery should wait bc of the high risks after. I don't understand that if it should not prevent me from getting pregnant then why am I not pregnant after 13 months of trying! The husband just went last week and was tested and everything came back normal on his end. I feel so hopeless....

Has anyone else out there with large fibroids been able to get pregnant and have healthy full term babies??

Thanks so much for listening, Brandi

  • First, welcome. And I don't know that I've ever heard of keeping a fibroid, especially at 10cm. I thought most Dr's recommended having fibroids removed as part of treatment for women having trouble getting pregnant. You might want to get a 2nd opinion.

    Hi Brandi,

We aren't the right board for you to pose this question to, as we haven't had success. That's why we're here. You should try the Success after IF board.

I'm sorry for your trouble. Hopefully you can get answers soon.

Or try the Secondary IF board. However, you are welcome here, even though you already have children.

  • Thanks so much....I will try the other boards and see if I have any luck...I don't want to step on anyone's toes :)

The OB said I should wait until after I am done with children to have surgery, or else the risks to my uterus for a pregnancy after that would be too high :/  I am thinking about having a 2nd opinion, because I just don't feel like they are listening to me and keep saying things like "statistically you are fine to get pregnant"...when obviously there is something that just isn't working right and not every person is "by the book"....

  • Hi Brandi and welcome to 3T.  I agree with the PP a 2nd opinion might be in your best interest.  3T as well as SAIF and the Secondary Infertility board will be a great help to you in the future.  I hope that you can get some answers so you can move forward with having another baby.  Welcome to 3T.

  • Welcome.. :) I have no experience with fibroids...but I might suggest a second opinion as well. Also, are you cycles "normal"...I dont know much about "secondary infertility" and I'm not at all saying thats what you have...just mentioning it for the sake of talking to your OB about maybe checking into why you might not have gotten pg yet...

  • Thanks...my cycles are as normal as they can be considering the fibroid...they are very painful and extremely heavy, tampons are not even an option...my OB doesn't seem to want to talk to me about it anymore and has said statistically there is no reason why I cant get pregnant. So I am thinking that I am at the point where I need to ask to see the specialist, whether my OB likes it or not. I just feel that he cant just compare me to statistics bc everyone is different and I don't think that I am getting the medical attention that I need.
