So today we saw a GI pediatric specialist, regarding DS's blood in stool issue. Quick reminder: Since DS was months old, we have been seeing blood in his stool. Usually we would see 1-2 tiny dots and once in a while couple of streaks. I BF, so I went on a dairy, soy and eggs free diet as it was suggested from our Pedi. Well, that helped a bit, but not completely.
So today, the GI did not want to do any invasive testing. Not even an X-ray. He saw DS, asked us many questions, and he said that DS looks very healthy and happy baby and he also thinks that it must be intolerance to some food that I eat. Well, we are officially switching to a hypoallergenic formula and I hope that helps. If not, we have a f/u appointment in 3 weeks, we will do some further examinations then.
I do feel a little weird that I will start feeding DS with formula all of a sudden, but I am not that much bumped out since he stopped nursing and I have been EPing for the last week or so. Weaning is another issue, but I have to deal with it anyways, it is just a matter of when (any advice on this?).
The hypoallergenic formulas stink, but DS just ate 4 oz, after refusing it for the whole afternoon. I just hope all this helps.
Thanks for listening!
Re: Update: GI visit
I'm relieved the appointment went well and hope the formula helps. As for the weaning, it sucks. We weaned cold turkey so I could go back on meds, and while my DS was older than your DS at the time, it was still really tough and emotional. The hardest part was the bedtime feed. Instead of nursing him to sleep DH put him to bed and DS scrreeeeaaaamed for me. I tried the first night but it was too upsetting for him so DH took over. It was absolutely heartbreaking, but it only lasted a few weeks.
Good luck!

I was watching my diet closely, but since we are stopping BF completely I don't have to worry about it anymore. I do feel good with the diet and am happy that I lost all the pregnancy weight though, so I will try not to dive into everything at once.
I really wanted to nurse him until he is 6 months old at least, but sometimes the things don't work the way you want them to.
At least I will be missing out on this. I can imagine how hard that was for you, stever.
