Trying to decide if we should find out the sex

We already have a set of B/G twins who will be 2 next month.  So, we have a TON of baby clothes sized preemie to 2 years.

Now that we're expecting Baby #3 (a singleton), we're trying to decide if we want to find out the sex.  Lord knows, we're set either way.  What would you do?

Re: Trying to decide if we should find out the sex

  • I would let it be a surprise, it isn't like you have a lot of preparations to do.  Anyway the baby doesn't care if they are wearing gender appropriate clothes when they are born.  Babies just want to be warm, dry, and fed :)

  • I think I'd go for a surprise as well! :)

I'm expecting #3 and I would LOVE for it to be a surprise, but I don't think I can wait to find out especially if we're having a girl, although all toys, carseats, highchair are gender neutral I might like to have a girly nursery and start shopping for some pink.

If you already have everything for both boy and girl I'd say you're all set for a surprise, but that's just me.

  • I would definitely go for the surprise! I couldn't wait to find out with the twins, but now that I have one of each, and if I ever do this again, I will totally be team green.  It would be really exciting :)

  • I think since you have one of each I would wait and be suprised! :) I wish I had the will power but I know i'd cave in. Maybe you guys can do what i've heard some people have done...have the U/S tech. put the sex in an envelope sealed and then dont open it until christmas with eachother. :) I think that's would be a great xmas present!

  • I'd find out because Baby #3 would be enough of a surprise for me (I said that about the twins, too).

I don't know if I can stand not knowing.

I like the concept of having it a surprise but I could barely wait to 17 weeks to find out the sex of the twins.  There is no way I would be able to wait!

U/S#1 showed 2 heartbeats! U/S#2 showed Baby A's heartbeat was 157 and Baby B 's heartbeat was 183! U/S#4 showed Baby A is a Boy (heartbeat 161) and Baby B is a Girl (heartbeat 159)!! Lilypie Second Birthday tickers
  • I really like the idea of a surprise but I'm about the worst person when it comes to waiting and having patience!

  • I agree about not finding out!  I still would since we are having two girls with the twins, but since you have one of each I would find out. :)

  • since you have 1 of each, I'd let #3 be a surprise.

I have B/G twins too and that is what I would do.

  • Go for the surprise, definitely.  That's what we did with DS1, and it was so wonderful! Finding out at delivery was the greatest thrill!

  • You know I have no patience and have to know these things, but I think it would be neat to let this one be a surprise. Could be fun!

  • We have B/G twins and I think I'd want to know. We knew with the twins, and I felt like knowing the sexes was an important part of bonding with the babies in utero. I anticipate I'd feel like that again. Also, picking one name is hard enough-- I'd hate to go through endless name debates x 2 needlessly.

All that said, DW wanted to be team green with the twins and I was the one who wanted to find out. Since we found out, I'd probably go her way (whatever it was) for baby #3.

  • I'd say surprise! We were team green with DD and it was so awesome to find out when she was born. Friends and family members were pretty frustrated with us for not knowing though.

This time we know because the doc spilled the beans at a 13 week ultra sound. With all the ultrasounds because of multiples we probably would have found out anyways. But, I am sort of sad about not having that surprise moment again.

  • I would also keep it a surprise.  We were team green with older DD and I really liked the suspense of waiting until she was born to find out what she was!!!  Looking back I kinda wish we waited to find out about the twins.
