Nursery decor- pretty or too busy?

We haven't found out the sex of our baby yet but I can't help but start planning my nursery. I am finding that a boy's nursery is easier for me to decorate than a girl's. I really love butterflies though and am looking at these stickers. I really like them but do you think they are too busy since they don't match? Or will they be pretty scattered around the nursery?

  • I think they're pretty but I would make sure that some other things in the room are less busy.

  • I think they are a bit on the busy side- IMO.

Yeah that is true. We are going sheet only on the crib so that will help. (No bumper, crib skirt etc)

Maybe I will look on Etsy for simple butterflies.

  • they're cute. i would make them a focal point in the room and keep everything else solid and basic. otherwise it will be too busy/mismatched looking.

  • I think if you paint the walls a light color- cream or pale yellow- they would really pop.  Just keep everything else less busy so your eyes go right to the butterflies.  I think it would look really nice.

  • We have butterflies in DD's nursery, but only on one wall. I think the key to making sure it doesn't look too busy is to have a neutral wall color and to keep the butterflies one color. I was also concerned that the tree would be too much, but I really like the final look. You can see our finished nursery on our baby blog to get an idea of what I mean. HTH!
