Anyone with low PAPP-A level?

I was just told by my doctor today my bloodwork was abnormal with low papp-a.  I had both my kids with me, and didn't get a chance to really ask many questions.  I am curious what other OBs have said and what the general game plan is (particularly if your ob is doing something prior to 26 weeks).  Thanks!

Re: Anyone with low PAPP-A level?

  • I have low PAPP-A levels. The doctor said it could possibly mean an issue with the placenta (but not likely) so just in case they monitor with monthly ultrasounds.

  • I had marginally low PAPP-A levels found around 20 weeks or so. I was told that it could mean my baby would measure smaller and I would be going for growth scans more often during the 3rd trimester. However, I developed GD and that can produce larger babies, so the periantolgist said the two cancel one another out. Really nothing to be too concerned about if you are being monitored.
  • Mine also came back low, NT scan measurement was normal as was other blood test.  I don't know how low it is but I am meeting with a genetic counselor this afternoon and I will be getting a high level ultrasound at 16 weeks (I am 15 weeks today).  Glad to read some of these posts saying its not as serious as it sounds, I have completely freaked myself out :(
