Don't miss alcohol OR coffee!

I noticed many of you ladies really miss your wine and coffee! Sorry to hear that!

Pre-pregnancy, I didn't drink alcohol or coffee. I probably only consumed 1 drink every 8-12 months! Just curious, is there anyone else that didn't drink pre-pregnancy?

By the way, I have nothing against drinking... I just get SUPER bad hangovers and most of my free time was spent running and training for triathlons. The two don't go well together Wink

  • I rarely drink coffee and alcohol as well, so I'm not missing them either. If I feel like a cup of coffee, I will indulge though.

  • The only time I miss alcohol is when my toddler is being a royal turd. And coffee? Meh...I could take it or leave it. I stopped at Starbucks this morning and it took me all day to finish my drink.

  • I'm not a coffee or even a caffeine drinker so I'm fine it that arena. As far as alcohol, I cut back in the last 6 months because I get terrible hangovers and I'm a substance abuse counselor (so sometimes I'd feel like a hypocrite) so it's not been something I miss so far. I may be singing a different tune when the raspberry beer MH is brewing is ready though!

  • I only miss alcohol when DD is mid tantrum.  As for coffee....um, I still have 1/2 a cup every morning.  My OB said 1 cup a day is fine, but I'm doing 1/2. Just enough not to get a headache!

  • Nope don't miss either.  I used to drink coffee but quit in March with my 1st pregnancy - had only a couple of cups since then.

    I do miss chai lattes though :)  Smoothies are my current favorite.

  • I've never had alcohol or coffee. I gave up caffeine in college when funds were tight and soda was an unnecessary expense, and I've never looked back. Now that I'm trying to keep a pregnancy secret for a while, I'm thankful that nobody will notice a change in my habits. :)
    Mommy to N (3), J (2), and C (10 months). LO4 is due in mid-September.
  • I'm in your boat, I don't dislike wine but I haven't had much lately. I've been nursing for a little over 2 1/2 years (non-stop) so this has meant very little wine in my world, lol. I don't like coffee (it gives me headaches) so that hasn't been an issue either. I'm just lucky I don't have to give up something vital like chocolate, that would do me in for sure!

  • I miss red wine...a little.

    I miss drinking tea all day...I used to drink A LOT of black and green tea. I have one cup of either per day now Sad

  • I don't drink either...I have a heart condition that can cause tachycardia (fast heartbeat), so caffeine is definitely out (aside from the occasional chocolate, of course). I'm on meds that help keep my heart rate stable, so I rarely drink (occasional glass of champagne) because it makes me feel like I'm instantly hungover! Which is okay, because I got most of my drinking days out of the way in early college anyways haha

  • I gotta say I love my red wine, but bizarrely, I don't miss it one bit. Haven't had a sip since I got my BFP 10 days ago and barely noticed. 

    Coffee's something else, but it's easier to manage. When I crave one, I make myself a decaf - lucky me, got a Nespresso machine with the little pods...

  • I consider myself a regular drinker, mainly red wine & champagne.  None of our friends have kids, so we spend almost every weekend hanging out watching football or playing board games.  I had no problem not drinking last weekend at our house-warming party.  I was worried someone would notice, because it's not like me to not drink.  But I kept sipping on my cranberry juice in a red plastic cup & noone noticed.  I definitely do not miss hangovers.

    I thought giving up coffee was going to be very difficult.  I usually drink about 4-5 cups daily!  I cut back to 1 cup (since I've heard that's okay), but this week I went cold turkey.  It hasn't been too bad, though I have felt like crap...like the crummy feeling that comes with colds.  Not sure if that's pregnancy related.  Anyways, I will survive.  We all have to make some sacrifices.
