We put an offer on a house, countered then accepted the banks counter. We had been waiting two days for the contract thinking since we accepted it's ours! Well now there is another offer on our house. We were told to make highest/best offer, but we only changed it by $2,000. We just refuse to get into a bidding war and be pushed beyond our comfort level on payments. Especially since we are about to pick up a baby mortgage in January and just bought a car. So now we are playing the waiting game and trusting in God to put us where we belong. We still have offers working on 2 others and will look at 4 more today. We have looked at about 65 houses at this point. We will find the right one, it?s just discouraging!!! We were over there just yesterday measuring for appliances, making lists of projects and planning where we were going to put furniture. ![]()

Re: Nothing like a bidding war on a house to take your mind off IF!
Sorry you ended up in a bidding war! Sounds like you're making the right choices, though, and treating the house as a place to live and a financial decision, rather than getting emotionally attached. Kudos for being smart about it! You'll find the right place, that fits your financial goals, soon--even if this house isn't it.
Good Luck!

P/SAIF Welcome!
That's true--bidding wars aren't as crazy as they used to be. Three people made offers on my current house at the same time (August 2010), but no one really wanted to fight for it. We actually got it with our original offer. Maybe that will work out for you, too!
