My doctor was not concerned with my sodium intake. He said that pre-e was not something that my diet could change. I did not add any extra sodium to my food and never ate things that I knew were high in sodium. It made me feel better, but was not something that the doctor was worried about.

This exactly. My Doctor was adamant that pre-e was about the stress of the pregnancy on the body not something my diet could control. Eating healthy isn't going to hurt but it isn't necessary to restrict sodium excessively. In fact that can cause issues too.
