Trouble TTC

Superstitions/good luck charms

I wouldn't call myself a superstitious person per say, but as time goes on I find myself looking for 'signs' and other good luck type things.  For example, one of my hens (Gladys :) ) laid her first egg on Tuesday, which I naturally took as a good sign.  An egg!  Also, it was a full moon near the time of my trigger, so I took that as another sign.  Full moon=full ute!

Anyone else have any little superstitions or things that you pay special attention to during a cycle for luck?

Re: Superstitions/good luck charms

  • I totally do that too.  I find myself doing it a lot with dates or numbers.  Like if my IUI is on somebody's birthday that must be good luck.  I hope Gladys' egg and the full moon are indeed good signs for you - GL.

I don't have any superstitions to share but just wanted to say congratulations on the first egg!  Have you had chickens before, or is this your first first egg?

The first time my first hen laid an egg (a blue egg from my Ameraucana no less), I was ridiculously ecstatic.  It's such a wonderful thing to have your own eggs...  delicious and special.

And yes, that should definitely be a good fertility sign!

Severe MFI. Me: supposedly all clear but eggs showed vacuoles.

IVF #1 January 2012, ER Jan 14th: 34R, 27M, 23F. Day 3: 18 embies still strong. Day 5: zero "good," one "fair," the rest "poor." Transferred 3. None made it to blast or to freeze. Jan 28: BFN.

Lucky IVF #2: Transferred two beautiful day three embies on St. Patrick's Day. BFP on HPT 7dp3dt. Beta 1 (14dpER)=106; Beta 2 (16dpER)=140; Beta 3 (19dpER)=264! First u/s 4.17.

  • I love the name Gladys for a hen.  For sure a good sign!  I do this with everything it seems.  Like a pp said birthdays of someone special, holidays, the list goes on and on.

It's my absolute first egg!  I wasn't expecting her to start laying for another few weeks, but she was clucking and making a rukus so I knew something was going on!  So fun :)  She gave another today too :)

  • I find that I am getting more and more superstitious as I am going through IF.  Last cycle I had to wear a specific good luck necklace and socks and every RE appointment (don't worry, I washed the socks).  After my c/p though I was tempting to throw the socks and necklace away.  Now that I am calmer and more sane I am glad I didn't do that lol.

  • DH and I were married in a butterfly garden so they have a special significance to us. The cycle of our c/p I was trying so hard not to test but one day I walked outside and I couldn't go more than 3 feet without another butterfly flying by me. It was strange and I took it as a sign that I should test. Sure enough, our first positive ever.

I haven't worn the shirt I was wearing the day I found out I lost my little peanut since that day.  And I had only worn it once before.  I wish I were strong enough to wear it because it's so cute!  But I guess I'm too superstitious.
