rec safe play 'jewelry' for 2+ yr old and also play animals?

DD is really into playing w/ my bracelets and putting them on & also looking at my earrings & necklaces...I think most necklaces are prob still going to be a choking hazard & fake kid earrings too but I was hoping maybe there were some kid bracelets out there that would fit her & I wouldn't worry about her breaking/swallowing, etc?

Also DS apparently plays w/ some of hte play farm animals (the kind that are realistic looking, not the little people FP kind) at daycare all the time so I thought that might be a good xmas gift.

Thanks!

  • I got DD some play jewelry at a mall store - I can't remember the name right now, but you know, one of those chains that are mostly for teen girls and do piercings.  I've also seen little girls jewelry at Sears and Penneys.

  • DD loves those beaded necklaces that you get at mardi gras that are strung on string and difficult to pull apart. I got a huge bag full at a garage sale.

  • Just a fair warning that lots of play kid's jewelry have HUGE amounts of lead in them...and I mean HUGE!  We've given DD a set of elastic wooden bead bracelets and also went to the local bead store and let her choose some plastic ones to make a necklace with.  We used a popper bead that pops open if you tug on it for safety on the necklace.  DD also loves the stretchy plastic band bracelets like we had in elementary school.
