We have a bath mat in the tub, the kind that suctions in the bottom. It has images of Dora as a mermaid on it. It is about 2.5 or maybe 3 years old, and I have put it in a bleach solution along with the bath toys, but it keeps getting mold spots around the suction cups and around the characters.
Is it time for a new bath mat? Or do you keep bleaching it?
Re: Tub bath mats - bleach or toss?
It probably isn't getting clean so the mold keeps growing. Bleach can only work on the outer layer of mold and dirt.
Do you have a front loading washing machine? They sell washing machine cleaner tablets meant to get soap and grime residue off washing machines so the mold doesn't grow - I have a lot of problems with this. This might ruin the bath mat, but if you're willing to replace it anyway, you might try running washing machine cleaner through the washing machine and including the bath mat.

I wash mine in the washer with soap, bleach and oxiclean. Once I started hanging it to dry after each bath (I throw it over a towel bar in the shower) I stopped having the mold issue.
