We usually put ours up the first weekend of December but we will have to wait until the weekend after that this year.
We get a real tree...before we had kids we always got ours from IKEA. It's a wicked deal. You get the tree for $20 and then get a certificate for $20 off your purchase in the New Year.
But the last couple of years, we have been going to a tree farm! I love it!
We get a real tree but don't cut it down...we probably will when the kids get older but for now, it isn't worth it. We put it up the weekend after thanksgiving (do the other decorating the day after thanksgiving).
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
We go to a tree farm and cut it down. We always get it the Saturday after Thanksgiving and decorate it the next day (so the branches settle). I love it and so excited for this year!
DX: Unexplained IF/possible PCOS
5/5/2010 Surprise BFP!
After 2 miscarriages and many prayers, our angel is here:)
We just on the frist day off that the weather is nice so DH can do the outside decorations when there is no snow on the ground, and it is easier to do the inside artifical tree at the same time.
Ya'll may point and laugh at me.

I usually like to put my tree up the weekend after thanksgiving, but I have been giving this alot of thought. Liam's b-day is 12/12. In an effort to ensure he always feel like his b-day is special, I might make it a tradition to put our tree up on the 13th every year. Will make the christmas season seem really short not having all the decor up for a long time, but I want to do my best and not let Liam feel like his b-day is jipped because he is a December baby. I am probably totally over thinking this, but its my nature.
We have always had a fake tree, but I would like to start getting a real one this year.
Usually the first weekend in December, but Im chopping at the bit this year so Im doing it next weekend. We do not get a real one- we had a real one several years ago- it was a mess- the trees dry out so fast here and there were pine needles everywhere- we had a mishap when taking it down and I ended up wih a soaking wet carpet with pine needles all over the place- it was a nightmare to clean up- now we have a pre lit fake one. I get it from my under stair storage! HAHA!
Our Journey from two to three!
3 IUI's, 2 IVF's, decided to move to foster/adopt.
12/24/2009 Baby C born, 2/1/2010 placed with us,
5/17/2011 Adoption final- we are finally a forever family!
We usually put it up the second weekend in December. We have a fake tree. Its not my favorite, but my DH is Jewish and he has no idea how to put up or take care of a real tree. So, it would all fall on me to take care of it. Bah humbug! So, we just go with the fake one.
Sometime in December usually 2nd week or so.. We don't have tree farms in fla maybe up towards the north they do. Now we go to the local catholic church and get the tree/Hanukkah bush..
When we lived in MA we went to a tree farm it was super fun. Took thee dogs and they gave us a sled and a saw. So traditional new England, I love it and miss it.
I put mine up last Saturday I usually put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving, but we'll be out of town, and I didn't want to put it off until the first weekend of December. We have an artificial, since I'm allergic to real trees.
TTC for 19 months. Dx: PCOS. 3 IUI's with Clomid= BFN 1st IUI with injectables= BFP
We go to a local tree farm. Every tree no matter how ginormous or little is $35. In the past, DH and I go by ourselves while the kids are in school and Claire is at daycare. It's just what "we" do with each other. Last year, DH decided to include the kids. I'll be honest, it sucked. Claire was nearly 2 and I had to carry her just about the whole time if I wanted her to keep up. DH's two tweenagers were miserable. "I don't like the one he likes." "Well, I don't like the one she likes." "I don't want to walk anymore." Etc. Bleh.

We put it up as soon as we can, usually the week after thanksgiving. We have an artificial tree, but I'd love to go to a tree farm and get a real one when DD is older.

Usually mid December, but I want to do it thanksgiving weekend this year. I think Eliza is going to loooove it and I want to be able to enjoy it for a bit.
We have to do artificial because my mom is super allergic to the real ones. We did a real one once when we lived in Maryland. It seemed like such a PITA compared to fake.

We will put it up the day after tgving this year because I am really excited for the holidays! We have a fake one although i like real ones but they are a PITA to maintainand they make a mess!
I think it's funny all the comments about how much work it is! My dad got an artificial tree one year when we were kids and my Mom threw out half the branches on purpose...so the next year we couldn't use it:)
I love the smell of a real tree...but I do feel a little bad about the waste.
I prefer to get it up the day after Thanksgiving, but we wait a little longer with a real tree. I always had fake ones growing up, and I wanted a real one soooo bad. So, we've gotten real ones ever since we moved in together.
We have a fake tree and usually put it up the day after Thanksgiving. DD's bday is 12/16. Now that we have her, we decided to wait until after her birthday to put it up. We want to keep her birthday and Christmas seperate.
It's a GIRL! Born 12/16/10
Baby 2.0 is on the way! Due in June.
We always put the tree up the weekend of Thanksgiving. The last few years we went up to the mountains and cut a tree down. Since we now live in the cities we will just buy a real tree. Always real!

Since DS1 was born, we started the tradition of going to a tree farm the weekend after Thanksgiving. LOVE this new family tradition.
But then DS2 was born on December 15. I don't know what to do! I kinda can't handle the idea of waiting until December 16th to put up a tree... And honestly, all the good ones will be gone by then. It's kind of a dash to find the desirable varieties even when we usually go!
I'm thinking maybe we'll stick with the tree tradition but not put up all the *other* decorations until after his birthday. Or who knows, maybe as he gets bigger he'll decide that he doesn't care... We'll see. I'm struggling with how to make his birthday seem special, blah blah blah, with it being so close to Christmas.
Also, I'm really surprised by all the comments about how much easier it is to do a fake tree... We had a fake tree for years. HATED IT. It was not easier, IMO. It was just cheaper because we weren't buying a new one every year! Putting it up, taking it down, storing it...ugh. Hated it. Hated it. I love having a real tree, but I do worry more about it falling down...

The same day as the Army/Navy game
We swap years between real and fake
I haven't gone to a Christmas tree farm in decades.
As soon as we can find the time after Thanksgiving. :-)
and we go fake. so much easier (and cheaper) in the city.
Because we're fancy like that.
