Toddler Backpack?

I am looking to get my boys personalized backpacks with trains and their name on them.  I looked online and found Stephen Joseph's backpacks.  They are cute but not really my style - almost too cute-sy.  I would like a backpack with their name and maybe an engine on the top part of the backpack.  I am hoping that they can use this for several years.  Any ideas where to look?  Thanks!

Re: Toddler Backpack?

  • I got the boys backpacks from LL Bean.  They've got that lifetime warranty, which is nice.  They're very well-made and I got them personalized w/ their initials.  Spence LOVES wearing his.  He took it to the dentist yesterday, in fact.

I like that they're plain/simple b/c I don't know if the boys will still be into ____ in a year or whatever, you know?  Plus, if I wanted to personalize further, I could get patches and sew those on and then remove as necessary.

  • We have a Preschool Backpack from Pottery Barn Kids. I think they have solid color ones and a few embroidery images to choose from, so they might have something you like.

I love the one we got for DD and it has helped up the last year really well.. still looks new.

  • Right now, Abby uses the one we got for employee appreciation day (adult size)! She tried to change the theme for her birthday like 5 times and I lost count of how many things she wanted to be for Halloween after we got her Fairy Costume. I don't trust that she'd want to keep any particular theme right now. Her lunchbox is just a pink one from the Container Store.

I decided it didn't really matter to me what she took to MDO. One of my favorite parts of starting a new school year was the smell of my brand new plastic backpack. I have fond memories of my first muppet one! Anyway, I'm waiting to get her a big girl backpack so she can be even that much more excited with new stuff when she starts school. I won't get her a plastic one but probably LL Bean, Lands End or Eddie Bauer. They all have pretty fantastic lifetime guarantees.

I don't like my kids wearing things with their name advertised on it due to safety issues. "Hi Abby! Your mom asked me to pick you up from school today!"

Abby's lunchbox has a "dogtag" from Mabel's Labels but you have to be sitting with the lunchbox to see it. She used to have one on her backpack too but it came off somewhere.
