Laser Hair Removal Ladies

I bought a g r o u p o n type deal for laser hair removal a few months ago and had my first treatment today on both my upper lip and bikini line. The upper lip doesn't seem that bad, but my bikini area is where my question lies. Obviously the area is red and I'm OK with that. However, the hairs were singed (I could smell the burning) and now they're all small and curly. I can tell I'm in for a barrage of ingrown hairs there. If you've had laser hair removal on your bikini area, what did you do to combat the ingrowns? She told me to wait 2-3 days to begin exfoliating, but I really picked at them tonight because they're so bad. Ingrowns hurt so bad, so I'd like to avoid them!

  • Hmm.. they should fall out. Definitely get on that exfoliation after that 2-3 days, but in the meantime I'd suggest hot showers to loosen them up.

It only hurt for me while it was getting done.. are you still in pain, or was it just while it was getting done? I hope it isn't bugging you anymore!

  • I never had that experience, I always had to shave right before they did it. DH has been to several places for his beard, and each place wanted him baby-faced as well.
  • Ditto shaving beforehand. I never smelled any burnt hair. I also never had any ingrown hair issues after laser treatment like i did when i was just shaving.

  • I remember the singed smell. And the pain. But 6 years later, the hair on my bikini line and upper legs is still almost non-existent, and it was the best money I ever spent. I don't remember ingrown hairs, though. I think the singed ones will fall out.
