My LO has been on solids now for about 2 months....She has had all the Stage 1 foods. When can I move to Stage 2? There are different flavors of foods and the portion size is a bit bigger....
We've tried some as well. Mostly ones that aren't too complicated. Two fruits combined versus just one fruit. Like apples and cherries rather than just apples. She LOVES them. She literally bounces in her chair to eat because stupid mom is just too slow.
Sweet potatoes are stage 2? They were the first food I gave her, oops! I guess I didn't pay too much attention to that list.
No, they are stage 1...the stage 2's are just bigger.
Like bigger chunks of food? I am making her baby food, I thought the stages had something to do with helping to avoid food allergies.
No, just larger containers.
Cece just started stage 2's because she's devouring the 2.5 oz portion. I also bought some of the Earth's Best breakfast combos to try since we just started her on breakfast too.
I already blew threw everything I froze from the farmers markets. Apparently, my child likes to eat! lol
Also, the stages are kind of intended to help avoid allergies. With stage 2, you'll see a lot of combos ie; apple/strawberry. Whereas you won't see any strawberry in a stage 1. But really, the stage 1's are just general starter foods. I kind of threw the wholesome baby food list out the window and fed her what I had available. I have to make some more this weekend....
I just bought the organic fruits/veggies that were on sale. We JUST started her on solids though so she's not eating much. I plan on buying some Earth's Best to supplement these. It's amazing that two large carrots (roasted) only make a tiny bit of food.

Pook- I make my own food, but I'm pretty sure Stage 2 just means bigger portions. It's Stage 3 where the consistency changes.
There is a list of each of the 3 stages in Baby 411. It just says to work through all of the 1's before 2, etc...For example, stage 1 has yogurt, stage 2 has cheese.

Do you recommend buying that book? I only bought one baby food book and while it does provide recipes it doesn't really explain when to feed them what. Like I am unsure when to start cheese, meats, etc.
It's not a food book, it covers everything fro the first year and it's the only book I highly recommend to my pregnat friends. I love it that much!
I got a couple of baby food books as gifts, and really they just tell you how to steam and puree food. I wouldnt' bother!
Baby 411 has lists of stages and kind of a plan of attack for all sorts of baby related things. I've read some of Toddler 411 at a friend's house and I"m going to get it, too.
