So, after the NICU follow up clinic, they Neo wanted to talk with Ella's specialist. He talked to everyone of her Doctors and they decided to not only run the MRI but to refer her to orthopeadist and do xrays of her extremeties and do ultrasounds and dopplers of her blood flow. So, they had to get everyone on board and they sent it back to our peditrician to sign off on the tests. He said this was customary so they keep the peditrician in the loop and accountable for her care.
So no problem, Pedi was glad to make the refferals and glad to be apart of the process. So, yesterday the refferal nurse was out of the office so she was unable to make the appointments. The nurse did say that the peditrician wanted to see us in 2 weeks to follow up. They said call back this morning. I waited till lunch and called. The refferal nurse was rude and said there is all this red tape for a refferal and it would be weeks before she could even get a date and time for us because we have to be pre-approved. I breifly have dealt with insurance billing and know that it can be done in less than hour if needed. So, basically the nurse said she was frustrated that the neo didnt do the refferals and that there was no rush. Would you just sit and wait for the appointment or would you call the pedi and see what is going on? I just feel like she asked us to come in to do a follow up check in 2 weeks but the refferal nurse acted like it would be a long time before everything would be set in motion.
Re: Update and WWYD
This exactly. I've learned that the more proactive and annoying I am, the faster things get done.
And I don't think I ever responded to your post earlier-I'm so sorry you are dealing with this! You have been through so much with the girls already. But please don't think for a minute that you are a bad mom. Is things like this-your willingness to fight with every nurse to get Ella's appointments made-that make you an exceptional mom!

How frustrating! It seems like there are a lot of people having trouble with the office staff at their pedi's offices lately. Hopefully the doctor will call you back and get things moving tomorrow!

No kidding! I get that it is a PITA to file all the papers and make the phone calls, but it's your JOB! Do it!
Caitdana - any word from the pedi?
