Anyone else having cramps that feel like your 14 and on your period again?? I seriously feel like I ought to run and put a pad on every once in a while. Also my doc said I'm 1-2cm dialated and 50% effaced on Monday, I really would like to get in the tub and take a nice relaxing bath but my mother flipped out on me saying I couldn't do that now that I'm dialated.  I reassured her that women LABOR in water but its one of those things that just sit in your brain and you say "well...??" But I can get in the tub still right?? At least until my water breaks....or so I believe. (tried looking this up and I just don't have any patience.) Sorry that I'm not normally on here and I'm bothering you all with a question. Hope everyone's day is going well.

Re: period-type cramping and question
You can take a bath, I just wouldn't add bubble bath or salts to it.
the period cramps are generally the contractions that are causing your cervix to change. Are they regular or can you time them?
I would not survive without my nightly bath...I also have alot of cramping and back pain, the bath is the only thing that helps!
sweet! I'm running the bath now!
As far as the cramps, if they're regular they're pretty far apart, honestly its more like one long constant cramp with bad "moments" every once in a while they've gotta be at least 20 minutes apart if they are at all regular....thats funny cause I thought those contractions were the ones that made my belly tight. These really aren't that painful its just annoying.....could I be so fortunate???
Thanks for the reply.
You are fine to take a bath!! just like a PP said don't add anything to the water..You are not bothering us with questions:) Thats what this board if for!!
Like a PP stated you can take a bath just make sure you don't make it too hot and don't add anything to the water like bubble bath, etc. I spent a good part of the beginning of my labor with DD in our jacuzzi tub (no jets running) at the advice of my doula.
Yes, baths are perfectly ok until your water breaks. I labored in the jacuzzi AT the hospital with my daughter until I was 5cm dilated (my water had not broken yet).
Yes, I've had menstrual like cramping the past few weeks. I keep getting conflicting information from OB's at my clinic on whether it's contractions that are helping rippen the cervix but aren't "real", or if it's because my cervix is irritated - I've heard both.
