We're traveling in two weeks on a 6 hour flight, with an 18
month old and a 3 month old. I've gathered some traveling tips, but am wondering if any of you have any? I'm expecting the worst, so maybe I'll end up being slightly okay after the whole thing!
Re: Air travel w/ LOs
We traveled with DD twice on a 4 hour plane ride. She did awesome on the plane. I was shocked and surprised. She only cried for maybe a total of 10 minutes, which isn't bad IMO. We bought a seat for DD, so she fell asleep in her car seat which was nice.
My "bad" experience was staying in a hotel room with DD. Next time we'll make sure to get a larger room maybe with a suite or something. DD did not sleep well in her PnP in the small hotel room, but she slept well in the PnP at my parents'. So I'm pretty sure it was that she saw us still awake in the hotel room.
GL on your trip!! Have fun.
Please keep your LOs RF as long as possible
We had the same problem. Night two we ended up putting the pack and play in the bathroom and she slept great! Sounds awful but it was for our sanity.

We live overseas and have done two transatlantic flights with our kids (the second was last week and included three flights and 24 hours total of transit).
Here are my favorite tips:
Entertain: For the 18 month old, I recommend a "magic backpack." I filled ours with small books and toys, including a tiny baby doll in a sleeping bag so she could put the baby to bed, a tiny etch-a-sketch, empty thread spools and string to string them on, etc.) Since our flight was so long, I had more things in my carry on, and I would periodically switch the toys out so she would find new things in there. She loved just opening the back pack and taking things out and putting them back in, but she also enjoyed the toys.
Encourage sleep: Are the kids going to be lap kids, or do they have seats? If they have seats, and the flight is at a time they normally sleep, and they sleep well in car seats, bring the car seIf your flight is at a time your kids normally sleep, and they sleep well in car seats, bring those along. It's a pain in the butt to lug them through the airport (we have the JL Childress car seat backpacks - worth the money for us), but if they get the kids to sleep on the flight everyone will be happier.
Feed them: Airlines are so stingy with food these days. Make sure to bring ample snacks. We were even able to bring full sippies of water through security on our last flight - they just xrayed them.
Make it easy on yourself: Going through security is such a pain in the butt. They don't let you wear the baby through. Make sure you have ample space in your carryons to put everything in - jackets, etc - so you're not corralling a bunch of little things through security. We traveled with our City Select, since we're selling it here, and that was a massive pain to get through security. I'm buying a double umbrella stroller here so that we can get through easier in the future.
Pack spares: We needed two changes of clothes for our kids this time. At least two pairs of pants. Blowouts happen when you least expect them. Pack more diapers than you think you will need. I have a roll-up changing pad with pockets for wipes and diapers - it can fit about four diapers. This was really handy for changes because we didn't have to dig through the diaper bag to find things - we just grabbed the case and changed.
Good luck!
