OK so my last doctors appointment before my c-section in 9 days is this Wednesday. I am trying to think of questions to ask but I am at a loss here. Any suggestions or questions you wish you would have asked that you might have forgotten?
Ask them if you need blood work before your c section. I was supposed to but no one told me or gave me the lab slips for it. I just thought they did it at the hospital beforehand. I had to have the blood work the morning of which wasn't a big deal but just one more thing to do pre op.
I definitely agree to ask if policy allows for your LO to stay with you in recovery. That is my only regret about my experience. I wish I had asked that and insisted she stay with me.
You can ask if you can have one or both arms free so you can touch your LO after. They let me have both arms free. It was nice to be able to stroke LO's cheek.
I'd ask about suturing options.
I'd ask about having a camera and when you can take pics. My nurse anesthetist took our family pics. He was awesome.
If you plan to BF make sure they know that, especially if they take LO to the nursery so they don't give her formula.
Do you take any daily medications? Will they interfere with the spinal or pain meds if so? This was a very important question for me to review with my dr. in advance.
I'd ask about suturing options. Some of my friends were stapled and had a horrible recovery. I was glued and taped, my recovery was fabulous. I was walking on the treadmill within a week, not sure if I was supposed to!
When you get in post partum and can get up and walk PLEASE WALK. I know the older generations like to pass info to us newbies but that really helped me when my FIL told me to get up and walk.
Re: C-section questions!
I agree with pp, ask if baby is with you during your recovery period.
Ask if the doctor uses staples or stitches.
Some hospital stays vary, I've seen 3 days and 4 days..ask what your hospital does.

I had a nurse walk me through the entire process and tell me everything she could about policies and procedures and felt much better afterwards.
