Can you rec a nursing cover or nursing tops?
With DS#1, I pretty much exclusively pumped. I'm hoping to be a conventional nursing mama with #2. I know I will be out more than I was with #1 and will need to be nursing in public so I'm trying to determine what I need. I don't know if I will buy anything beforehand but will probably wait to see how things go... but I just want to be ready as far as knowing what to buy assuming all goes as planned.
Re: Question for those who have nursed successfully
I have 2 nursing covers that I loved.
A bebaulait and a hooter hider. They are both from the same company, I believe.
Here is the link. See if you can find a coupon code because they seem to have special offers frequently.
And good luck!
I also had a BeBeAuLait and it worked fine. I probably only used it for the first couple months and I eventually just started using a waffle blanket because it was just one less thing to always remember to carry. Ditto NDK - check around for a coupon because I remember getting mine 50% off.
As for nursing tops - I LIVED in the Target nursing camis and just wore those under regular shirts.
I used a bebeaulait as well (borrowed NDK's at one point!) and it was great. This time I plan on making my own via a tutorial I found on p i n t e r e s t. Depending on how much coverage you want, that may be the way to go so that you can customize your size a bit more. Not sure how crafty you are, but they look pretty easy to make - we'll see!
Ditto. I wear one of these every.single.day under whatever shirt I'm wearing for work/out and about/etc. I much prefer the nursing tanks over nursing bras because I can lift up my top shirt to nurse and the tank still covers my tummy/back.
I have a hooter hider. It works great. Whichever cover you decide to go with, I highly rec you get one with boning in the neck so that it will stand out from you and you'll be able to look down and see what's going on.
If you can sew, here is a free pattern for nursing covers: link. I loved being able to pick out my own fabric, and it's a rectangle, so fairly simple. I got help from another nestie and craft mistress, cia. It took about 3 hours, and I got the fabric from Unco.mon Thread on S. Lamar and the other stuff from Jo.anne's.
I got one of these clips (also super easy to make) from Diapers.com and LOVED it. It allowed me to use whatever blanket I wanted - usually an Aden and Anais swaddle which is lightweight and HUGE.
ETA - whoops forgot the link - https://www.diapers.com/p/cover-me-strap-emerald-city-brown-green-polka-dots-39685
What a great idea! And the lightweight Aden and Anais blankets are perfect for summer.
