  • You could be starting to get sick, you might have slept poorly and gotten a bad reading, or it could just be an anomaly.  I have to continually tell myself not to worry too much about temps--they really aren't very useful at predicting pregnancy.  (Just check out the PG charts on FF--they're all over the place.)

  • Sorry, but you really can't infer anything from a one day temp spike. If your temp stays up, a triphasic chart might be a good sign for pregnancy, but lots of people get triphasic charts who don't end up being pregnant.

Honestly, I'd recommend not temping after you've confirmed O. I don't temp at all any more (totally unnecessary with IVF), but when I did, I eventually stopped temping during the 2ww because the only thing it did was drive me crazy.

    Good luck to you!

  • thanks for the thoughts.

i temp'd one month about 10 months ago just as another confirmation with my opk that i was actually ovulating...i quit for some time then just started again.

i may have to quit because i read too much into it. i spend the rest of my day analyzing data, so i guess i just can't help it.

appreciate the sanity, sometimes you just need to hear it from outside your own head.

    thanks again

  • Could mean your progesterone went up, you are getting sick, you were warmer than normal for some external reason - but at only 5dpo, it's highly unlikely to be anything related to pregnancy since implantation doesn't occur until 7-10dpo.  I had crazy high temp spikes last month in the 2ww and it meant nothing - BFN.  I'm still a little bitter about the crazy MF it induced, LOL.

This.  MissMusic once said that AF was going to come whether she kept temping or not....  Makes sense to me.  So, that's what I've started doing too.  Last cycle I stopped at 8dpo.  This cycle, 10dpo.  Keeps me from obsessing over my chart since there isn't new data.  One temp spike or drop doesn't mean much.  And, sometimes, a triphasic chart doesn't mean much either.  So, no sense overanalyzing temps after ovulation.  Smile
