Private Adoption?

I've been reading up on this, but I'm interested in talking to someone who has done this. 

 We are in the process of getting approved for foster care with the long term goal being adoption.  Our homestudy is scheduled for Dec 1st!

My mom is a home health nurse and a patient of hers has a granddaughter who is 23 and just gave birth to baby # 7.  The first 5 were given up through adoption, #6 is in the custody of the bio father..and baby #7 is brand new.  She is potentially planning on adoption...obviously it's a long shot, but I'm wondering what is involved in a private adoption?

TTC since November 2009.

Currently licensed foster parents with the hope of adopting!  Also pursuing pregnancy through IUI!  First IUI scheduled 10/3/13

    No direct experience, but the steps would be:

    1. See lawyer

    2. Get expedited homestudy

    3. Final steps per lawyer

    this exactly. we did a private adoption, got a homestudy and then the lawyer took care of everything else!

    Ditto to PP.

    We did private adoption and our first call was to a lawyer, our second call the social worker the lawyer recommended.

    Ditto! It can totally be done!!! I would call a few lawyers in town and talk to them.  See who you are most connected too and go from there.

    We are in the process of doing a private adoption. I saw your in Raliegh you should check out Childrens Home Society for your home study. We are in the Fayetteville area.
