If any are you drinking? I had a major aversion to it for a long time but my desire to have a small latte from starbucks is driving me nuts!! Is anyone drinking coffee? I have looked up the caffeine amounts in some of my favorite coffee drinks and its under 200 mg in all of them (if I get a small!) so I am wondering if I should treat myself once or twice a week?!?!
Re: how much coffee?
During the first tri I only had one cup of coffee a day and sometimes a little soda in the afternoon if I was really tired.
Now I still have my one cup of coffee, but some mornings I switch it up and will get a starbucks latte. I looked it up and a grande latte only has 150 mg of caffeine.
My rule is that I just try to keep it under 200 mg a day. I would go for it and treat yourself to some starbucks!
ETA: I just looked it up again to check and a grande coffee from starbucks has 330mg of caffeine! I never realized it was that much, I always though the lattes had more caffeine. That's crazy to me!Boy/girl twins born at 37w1d and 37w2d
Lattes have very little coffee in them that's why there is so much less caffeine they are mostly milk or cream and sugar and flavoring. Plus if any one doesn't want to have caffeine at all Starbucks will make them decaf which is what I always get since I use up my caffeine allotment for the day in the morning.
I cut out coffee completely so far, just because I have a strong (although mostly irrational) fear of miscarriage. I'm at high risk for miscarriage because of a number of reasons, so for me, it just wasn't worth it to have any.
My OB has actually encouraged me to start drinking it again because of the horrible headaches that I get every day. As I head into the second trimester, I'll probably relax a little and have it a couple times a week. I cannot WAIT for a peppermint mocha from Starbucks!
