I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, and I'm sorry if it's been asked before.
Yesterday I went in for a cycle day 10 ultrasound to measure follicles and I had 3. 10mm 12mm and 15mm. My RE said that I would ovulate in 2 days, but I don't usually ovulate until day 17. Anyways, today when I went in for my cycle day 11 ultrasound, I only had 2 follicles and they didn't grow. The one is still 15mm. I thought they were supposed to grow 2mm every day? What would cause them not to grow at a normal rate? My doctor was in a hurry, so I couldn't ask him questions. He did say I would need fertility drugs. What type of fertility drugs would I need? I go back to see him in 2 weeks to discuss treatment.
My doctor told me to cancel tomorrows ultrasound and now believes I won't ovulate until the weekend, but that's still too early for me.
Thanks.

Re: Why won't my follicle grow?
Why are you being monitored if you aren't on fertility drugs? Just because you "don't usually ovulate until X day" doesn't mean you'll never O before that...or after that. Sounds like maybe you have a weak O...
Are you seeing an OB? I would suggest seeing a RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist).
My follies always seemed to stall out as well. I took Clomid (which is probably what your Dr is talking about) and it didn't help. Next was Femara and then injectibles. What ever you take just make sure you are monitored properly by u/s and b/w.
Good luck! Feel free to ask more questions.
After more than 2 years of fertility treatments, FET did the trick!
IVF March 2012 - BFP! - Severe OHSS = 8 days in the hospital in kidney failure
No heartbeat at 10w6d
FET August 27,2012 = BFP!

Thanks for your responses.
I'm getting monitored because it's my fertility clinics protocol. I just started going last month and they do investigative tests when you first see them. One of the tests is cycle monitoring.
I am seeing an RE. I go up for a followup at the end of November.
IUI#2 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 5-9) = BFN
IUI#3 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP!
beta #1 11/23 = 270, P4 = 75
beta #2 11/28 = 2055
Our daughter E was born 7/29/2012!
Surprise, our 2nd daughter P was born 5/22/14!
Thank you! Good luck to you in your ttc journey.
My husbands SA came back low, so I'm concerned that since we both have problems it's going to take me a while to get pregnant. Are the drugs even worth it if my husbands SA wasn't ideal?
They can be, and are usually used in conjunction with something else (IUI/IVF) if needed, etc.
I agree with kdg.
Do you know what the SA #s were? If it's mild MFI you'll probably still mostly likely start with Clomid.

Before we did a SA, I thought my RE said if it's bad we would need ICSI. Does ICSI have to be done with IVF, or can it be done with IUI or by itself? I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff, but I'm learning quickly.
His SA was
Volume: 1.5
Viscosity: low
Concentration: 18 million/ml
Motility: 30%
Progression 2-2+
Total Motile Count: 8.1 million
Morphology: 3%
Thanks, you ladies are great
I'm definitely not an expert when looking at SA results but take a look at our blog for info. Seems like it might be a little low but I've seen ladies on this board with much worse that have gone on to get their BFPs. Also, ICSI refers to a special procedure that is done with IVF.
