Update on NT Scan at 1:30-Trying to keep my FAITH

Well, we sure have a stubborn LO. Took 20 minutes to get him to lay correctly lol. The fold was measured at 1.1 (breathe). Waiting on blood results. OB says everything seems great. However, my huge fribroid in there is getting bigger. It is so low and may get so big that I will have to have a c-section. All in all, good results. Thanks for all the prayers. God bless.

  • My tech asked me if I had any probs with Fibroids. I said no.  what is it exactly?  Should I be concerned?     1.1 is a great measurement!!   Breathe easy ... your blood work will come back fine :)

  • Haha! Same here. Wouldn't stop wiggling and hiccoughing and it absolutely refused to cooperate. The tech had to keep pushing against my belly to try to get LO in to the right position. Finally she got the measurement, but it took quite a while.

Glad to hear everything went well!

Thanks! If you had an u/s they would see any in there. I also have them in my breasts. This one is freaking huge and low. My uterus will be bigger than most. It's not messing with baby so they are not concerned yet. Here is some info:

A uterine fibroid is a benign tumor that originates from the smooth muscle layer (myometrium) and the accompanying connective tissue of the uterus.Fibroids are the most common benign tumors in females and typically found during the middle and later reproductive years. While most fibroids are asymptomatic, they can grow and cause heavy and painful menstruation, painful sexual intercourse, and urinary frequency and urgency. Some fibroids may interfere with pregnancy although this appears to be very rare.During pregnancy they may be the cause of miscarriage, bleeding, premature labor, or interference with the position of the fetus.

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services states that "Fibroids are almost always benign (not cancerous). Rarely (less than one in 1,000) a cancerous fibroid will occur. This is called leiomyosarcoma. Doctors think that these cancers do not arise from an already-existing fibroid. Having fibroids does not increase the risk of developing a cancerous fibroid. Having fibroids also does not increase a woman's chances of getting other forms of cancer in the uterus."[5]

While fibroids are common, they are not a typical cause for infertility accounting for about 3% of reasons why a woman may not have a child.[6] Typically in such cases a fibroid is located in a submucosal position and it is thought that this location may interfere with the function of the lining and the ability of the embryo to implant.[6] Also larger fibroids may distort or block the fallopian tubes.

In rare cases, fibroids may cause infertility. Fibroids may also cause complications if you become pregnant, although the risk is thought to be small:

    • Some pregnant women with fibroids may deliever a premature baby because there is not enough room in the womb.

    • A c-section may be needed if the fibroid blocks the birth canal or causes the baby to be in a dangerous position.

    • Some pregnant women with fibroids have heavy bleeding immediately after giving birth.

  • Did you have another NT scan done? Or a follow up ultrasound to recheck?

  • I had an u/s at 6 weeks where they first noticed the bigger fibroid.

At 9 weeks, we had another u/s where they noticed it was bigger.

This last u/s at 12 weeks for the NT showed it evern bigger. I hope that it staves off after a while.

We have an anatomy scan at 20 weeks but I haven't asked if they were going to check it out before then.

Maybe I should to see LO again? Stick out tongue
