I have never had an interest in going to Disney (I know, very unAmerican). But now that we have kids we talk about taking them someday. We're thinking in about 4-5 years would be the best time to take them (they will be 4 & 5 years old). This way we're not having to worry about diapres or naps and they will really be able to remember it when they're older. This is just our opinion.
What age would you recommend for taking your LOs to Disney?
Re: Best age for Disney?
We were just talking about this too!
We were thinking of doing a Disney Cruise before Disney World since there will be less walking and lines involved. We're thinking about 3-4 for the cruise and then 5-7 for Magic Kingdom. There is a LOT of walking & standing involved w/ Disney.
I've been many times, and the other parks there are also good for different ages.
Just my opinion:
Epcot: 8-12
Hollywood Studios: 10-adult
Animal Kingdom: 6-12
Waterparks: Any age

Hollywood studios has devoted a lot of space to Disney Junior and the Pixar movies which are huge in my house. Hollywood studios would be my #1 choice for kids J's age.
Thanks, good to know! Last time I was there, they were just building the Toy Story ride.
I happened to just book a hotel for DW yesterday.
I went for the first time when I was 4 and have limited memories but went every year/every other year after. DH made me promise to wait until Claire is at least 4 for her first trip BUT everytime she sees Cinderella's Castle she says, "Mommy and Daddy take me there someday." We finally caved. My parents "winter" in Florida so their house is only an hour away. We'll spend time with them (we go at least once a year to see them anyway) and then spend a few nights at Disney. Cheapo resort too....who can argue with a 67. Disney hotel?
As Telyco mentioned, if this was once in a lifetime than I would wait until the kids were older. Since this is a "Go see Grandma & Grandpa" and take a sidetrip to Disney, we just decided to go. We won't push Claire to stay longer if she is tired since we know we'll go back. Evan will go with us for a night/day and then my parents will take him home with them.
This exactly!!! I worked at Disney all throughout high school and was always perplexed at the parents who would spend their life savings to bring their babies on a trip they would never remember.
If you know you will be able to afford to go more than once... then younger might be ok... but I would say, the youngest at 5 would be perfect!! They will remember it forever... AND be old/tall enough (most likely) to enjoy more of the rides.
