Pictures

Anyone have any recommendations on where to go for portraits? We want some pictures of just LO and a family portrait. Preferably inexpensive

Re: Pictures

  • I always have good luck with Jc Penny's.  Get a coupon online.

We just went here and I loved it! We've done Sears in the past and we weren't happy at all...

  • I am actually the opposite, we have been to Jc penny's in the past but disliked it. We done sears for every occasion now.

  • We went to jcpenney over the weekend and loved it. Great pics, spent about $100 for a ton of prints with an internet coupon
  • Actually, here's a coupon for penney's that is WAY better than the one we used..

traditional sheets are either 1 8x10, 4 3.5x5's, 2 5x7's, or I forget how many wallets...so its a really good deal for your money.

There are plenty of chains that have great, inexpensive options.  Target, JcPenny (which is the same company as Target - Lifetouch portrait studios), Sears, KMart, Walmart, Picture People (though they are on the expesive side), etc.

The trick is to have a coupon with you, and don't fall into their traps of portrait clubs (rarely worth the money - all coupons usually have no sitting fees, a free 8x10, stuff like that), "special prints" (multiple images, borders, fancy effects), or portrait packages (def not as cheap as the coupon).

Also, if you have a bad experience, you usually aren't required to buy anything, and don't blame the company - example, "Target sucks! The photographer was so mean!"...try a different studio.

I do recommend asking for the manager to be your photographer, the studios hire seasonal help just like other retail stores, and they may not be as experienced.

(I worked in a portrait studio for over 4 years, I know all the in's-and-out's lol).

  • My sister and I went to JC Penney yesterday with our LOs for an x-mas present for our parents. They were great and took their time to make sure we got some good shots. It was not an easy feat with a 4 year old, 7 week old & a 3 week old. The pics came out great and there was no pressure at all. We had a 50% off coupon and decided to just get some random sheets vs. a "package." The only thing I wish was different is the wait to actually get the pics. I just wish they could have printed them out right then & there instead of us having to wait a week.
