Reading to babies in utero

I see on another post that 2brides' wife read to the twins when they were in utero. I think that's a great idea (since they spend all day with Jen, listening to her talk about boring HR stuff). 2brides, what did she read to them? Kid books? Whatever she was reading? Something you would both enjoy? Did anyone else do this, & if so, what did you read to them? And did anyone play music for them?

  • she mainly read kids books - but I think there were times that she read whatever she could find to them. She still loves to read to them (she just finished reading the first Harry Potter to them!) She would also sing to them, which always ended in a fit of laughter since DP isn't a singer. But it was sweet - she wanted to make sure they knew her voice.

  • I do this! It helps me feel connected:)  The only struggle is most nights my wife is so tired that she wants lights off right away and doesn't want to hear me reading...so I try to plan it at least once a week to make sure we get our book in.

As for the books, honestly, since the kiddo can't understand what I'm reading for now, I'm just pulling random baby books off of the shelves at the library.  Since I know I'm going to read Good Night mom 10,000x after the baby is born, this provides a little variety...
