I'm hosting my book club tonight and I'm hung up on what to feed them. I have a 1/2 day at work today and then I'm headed to the store/home to get things ready for tonight.
Do you have a favorite, quick appetizer that I could share with my friends??
So far, I plan to make this Crescent Wrapped Brie (I make it for almost every function that I attend/host.) Veggies/hummus...maybe an artichoke dip?
Any other ideas? There was a "crack dip" recipe that was floating around here many years ago, but I can't find it anywhere!
Re: Another food post: Quick easy appetizers?
Here is a recipe for "crack dip" that I found on pinterest a couple of weeks ago. Maybe it's the one you are thinking of.
Cheddar Bacon Dip (a.k.a Crack)
16 oz sour cream
1 packet Ranch dressing mix
3 oz bacon bits (in the bag not jar)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Mix together and refrigerate 24 hours. Serve with chips and/or veggies
Pizza Dip:
In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and Italian seasoning. Spread in an ungreased 9? square microwave safe dish. Combine mozzarella and Parmesan cheese; sprinkle half over the cream cheese. Top with the pizza sauce, remaining cheese mixture, and pizza toppings if desired (pepperoni, green pepper, onion, etc). Microwave uncovered on high for 3-4 minutes or until cheese is almost melted. Let stand for 1-2 minutes. Serve with crackers, breadsticks, tortilla chips, or raw vegetables.
Note: I?ve also made this in a small slow cooker to serve at parties. Recipe doubles easily ? use 9?13?baking dish if doubling.
Baked Cheese Bites
Heat oven to 325 degrees. Cut cheese into 15 slices; cut each slice in half. Put one slice of cheese in between two crackers; place on 15?10 inch baking pan. Bake 8 minutes or until cheese begins to melt. Serve with sauce.
A go-to for me is a recipe from Real Simple, it's a smoked salmon dip that is beyond easy. I serve with cucumbers, carrots and rye bread. Always a hit.
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
kosher salt and black pepper
1/4 pound smoked salmon, chopped
crackers and cut-up vegetables, for serving
Directions
1.In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, horseradish, dill, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
2.Fold in the salmon. Serve with the crackers and vegetables.
This is my fave dip known to man. I always get tons of great compliments - but its pretty pricey to make due to all the cheeses.

There's also a great cheesey dip from epicure, but you need the spices. But it is QUICK, easy and delicious if you use epicure.
I usually do this and the Brie, but in an effort to not stall my weight loss efforts, I'm not even going to make it tonight! HA! Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
Good call. It's at 6 and in years past (I host once a year, there are 12 of us) I've served chili, but my friend did chicken chili last month so I figured that was out. I think I'll do this!
I like to lie to myself that this is a healthy snack:
Layer cream cheese, caramel apple spread and crushed up skor bars.
Use apples to dip.
TO.DIE.FOR.
Oh geez. I think this will be dessert. I'm already cutting up apples and pears for the brie app, so I might as well have this too! haha!
