Hospital bag procrastination

Anyone else dragging their feet when it comes to packing their bag? I half-heartedly started packing mine tonight, will probably finish tomorrow. The end it near and I'm half freaked out and half stoked...

Re: Hospital bag procrastination

  • Me!  I need to pack but I am feeling so lazy!  DH has been traveling a lot lately and so I have the LO by myself so by the time she goes to bed, I just want to kick my feet up, relax and watch bad TV!   I have pulled a few things out - they're just not actually in a bag all together.

  • I finally got mine packed this weekend. A lot of it needs to wait until day of (toiletries, favorite pillow, etc.) so maybe this weekend I'll get a list together of things to grab. That way I won't forget anything or, worst case scenario, if someone else has to run home and pack it for me it will be easy on them.
  • i'm probably going to pack my bag once i have early signs of labor.  most of the things i'm packing are things that i currently use anyway and it won't take long to throw in a bag.
  • I have a list made out of things to put in it, and some random things that I won't need at home in the next few weeks tossed in a bag. I figure labor tends to take a while, so I'll have time to get everything together before I go to the hospital.

  • I'm right there with you, I can't seem to get off my A** and pack a bag.

  • I made a list. Thats about as far as I got. I plan on using the bag my mom had made for me and my step daughter but it's like I can't motivate myself to empty out her stuff to put mine in there. At this rate my husband will be packing my bag for me while I'm in labor lol...Plus theres some odds and ends I need to buy to put in there or else its going to be a change of clothes and a camera!

  • Yes!  It is the only thing left on my list.  I have even printed out WHAT to pack, and I still haven't.  I still have just over 4 weeks until induction.... but still.... maybe I"ll do it this weekend for my birthday!

  • Mine is semi-packed.  After 3 trips to l&d I have the packing down to a science.  I only have so many tank tops and yoga pants to go around so I have a laundry basket I keep the clean things in so I can just toss them in.  When we went last Friday, it took us under a half hour to pack my bag, ds's bag to stay at my parents house, get the dog situated and get out the house lol.

  • I don't plan on packing much, I'm going to wear the hospital gown they give me (no need to have to wash my own). I have nursing bras that I'm currently wearing (they fit better than my own now); and a pack of disposable nursing pads. Other than that I'm only taking my super comfy house shoes (which I currently wear daily) and toiletries, which I'm going to get travel size and stick them in a bag. Not much for me to pack. I have long hair so I plan to have that braided within the next couple weeks (I'm a scheduled c-section) so no need for comb or brush, I don't wear glasses or contacts, so I'm pretty easy.

I do however have LO's bag pretty much packed, not much in there either because my hospital gives you diapers and receiving blankets, hats and burp cloths so I'm only taking a couple outfits and a couple pacifiers for her. DH is the one freaking out about packing a bunch of stuff. But this is his first so I can understand. I just remember with my 6 year old bringing a bunch of stuff back home that never left the bag. So I'm not trippin this time around.

  • I made a list of what to pack on Sunday and have been randomly throwing things in as I go, making another list of what else I need to pick up at the store. I think there are still 5 things left on the list to get.

  • I haven't packed a thing. We haven't even hung up DS clothes yet (although they all got washed ages ago). I should get moving but I'm SO tired. I didn't use half the stuff I packed anyway though, so as long as I have a pair of comfy clothes to sleep in, my own pillow and a toothbrush at the very least, I think I'll do alright.

  • I've been "packing" the bag for two weeks now.  I finally bought some travel sizes of stuff so I can officially finish....but yet, it's still not done.  Procrastinating for sure.

  • I'm still only 33 weeks, so I just made a detailed checklist of stuff DH and I want to bring.  I'm planning on picking up a few travel-sized items from the drug store to help out -- ie extra deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.

It won't be fully 100% packed until labor begins-- my Nook, phone, charger, etc. are items I use too frequently and won't have duplicates.  The checklist means DH can help me pack in case I'm too distracted.

  • you can count me in on the procrastination....I have the bag sitting out with a few things I have tossed in here and there as I wash or purchase them but that is about it.  I plan on getting the rest of it packed soon with a list of what to grab last minute.  Hopefully labor begins at home and I will have time to put the rest of it together.  Even if labor begins at work I will probably come home to put the rest of it together (work: 5ish mins from hospital and 15 from home, home: 15-20 mins away from hospital).  LO's clothes are all washed and ready to go, there isn't much going into the bag as I will wear the hospital gown and use what is provided.

  • I've made a list and I think I've bought everything, but I haven't started packing either.  I have a scheduled c/s on the 29th, so it's all good if this one is happy to stay put like his sister, but I'm more or less in denial about the possibility that I could go into labor earlier.  I think I'll start packing today if I have time.  If I don't get it done, my ILs can always bring whatever I need to the hospital, but of course if I make it to my c/s I have no reason to make them do that.

This too.... I am not ready to part with my yoga pants & comfy pillow! Hopefully a mad dash to the hospital won't be required... Ideally I'd like to labor at home as long as possible, and pack then. We shall see!

  • I have started packing but have a few things left to throw in there.  I also started a list of "Don't Forget" items to grab on the way out the door.
  • I haven't packed a thing and I probably won't until I go into labor...I'm a major slacker

  • This was me until yesterday.  I always envisioned being packed by 36 weeks but I was just lazy about it.  Being full term I think finally kicked me into gear and I packed whatever I could yesterday.  All I have left are things like toiletries.

  • I haven't started, but I have been thinking about it and checking out recent posts about what to pack and what to leave at home.  I'm hoping to be packed by 37 weeks and keeping my fingers crossed that I don't need my hospital bag sooner than that.

  • We started packing Monday - after we went to Target to get grippy socks and some cheap nursing bras. :) The only things left to stick in there are the baby's clothes (which are in the washer and dryer right this second) and the last-minute stuff we still use like phone chargers.
  • I havent started yet...but I am so far behind all of you. I will probably start around 35 weeks. I feel like the little freshmen who hangs out with all the cool older girls in high school haha. So many of you are already to 37 weeks! It is so exciting...yet I feel sooo far behind.

  • I have a list of things to pack but I haven't actually put anything into a bag. I do have a small pile of things that need to be packed that are currently heaped on top of the carseat (which has yet to be installed).

  • My bag is a work in progress. It's got toiletries because I bought travel size stuff, and a bathrobe but that's it. Yesterday I got motivated (which meant the bathrobe got added) after my boss was telling me she had her baby 4 weeks early, (yeah because all the stories on here didn't spur me into action) which would be next week for me.
