need gift advice, nbr

My grandmother passed away in August. She was such an amazing woman, and we are going to miss her so much this holiday season. I know the holidays are going to be tough on my mom, a lot of our holiday traditions involved my grandmother, and spending time at her house.

I was thinking of getting it, wrapping it and having my sister(she lives with my parents) put it under the tree with my nieces gifts. I would just write to Jody from ?. What do you ladies think? Thoughtful, or too hard to deal with on Christmas morning?

    My dad passed away last November and my SIL's mom sent me a christmas memorial ornament that arrived on Christmas Eve.  It definitely made me cry but the thought behind it was so much more important to me.

    So IMHO, I think it is a heartfelt, wonderful idea.
