When and where did your water break? (for those with babies already)

For some reason, I am amazed with water breaking stories lately... I know most women's water doesn't even break on its own, but if yours did, what week did it break and where were you? Any crazy stories? Mine broke during induction in the hospital bed but for some reason I have in my head it'll break on its own with this one (unlikely I know) and I'm so afraid of being in Walmart or something lol

Well with DS I woke up to use the bathroom at about 2am (2 days past my due date). As soon as I stood up I felt a gush of warm water. I though maybe I just had an accident, so I went to the bathroom and it kept coming, so I woke up DH and away we went to the hospital. DS was born at about 4pm that afternoon.

With DD1 it broke when the midwife broke it. That was in the hospital, after the epi, and about 21 hours into labor.

With my first it broke in my bathroom at home. With my second they broke it when I was in active labor at the hospital.

Mine broke in my bathroom at home at about 4:00 AM. Even though it was enough of a gush that it really couldn't have been anything else, I still spent about half an hour Googling things like "amniotic fluid" and "water breaking" before I woke up DH and then called the doctor. DS was born by c-section at about 6:00 that evening after three hours of pushing.

DD #1 was at 10pm and I was laying in bed trying to sleep. I felt a little pop and some leaking, I went to the bathroom and the leaking didn't stop, but my contractions didn't start for another 8 hours.

DD #2 was after a long day of contractions that were still 10 minutes apart so I was praying that they would get closer or my water would break so I could head in to the hospital. It finally broke at midnight when I was walking through a contraction and DD #2 was here by 2am.

DD1-They broke it on day 2 of my induction (a month early and it took 34 1/2 hours). She was born 12 hours later.

DS-They broke it at the hospital when I hit 8cm and it still hadn't broken. He was born an hour or two later. I can't remember exactly.

DD2-It broke while they were giving me my epidural. She was born four hours later. They tried to break it a few times, but they were unsuccessful since her head was so low. All they did was scratch her head.

Even though I've always been in the hospital, I still have a fear of it breaking when I'm in public, especially at church.

With my DS they broke it in the hospital but only a little came out. Until I stood up to use the rest room and my DH made me laugh; then it broke all over my socks and the hospital floor. My mom bought me new socks for a "new mom" present!

My doctor broke mine and DS was born about 6 hours later I believe.

My mom had all three break on their own but she was already in the hospital, the contractions started first before her water broke.

I'm mostly concerned about its breaking in bed or on my couch, both are fairly new. Not sure if I'm going put something down just to be safe. My mom told me to get an old shower liner, haha, I use them to paint the thought of one for me seems crazy!!!

With my son, I was 37 weeks, 4 days. I woke up at 4:00 a.m. and started throwing up/diarrhea. I actually had a prenatal checkup at 9am. When I went in, I told them I thought I might be going into labor. They had me pee in the cup and I threw up again. Then I went into the exam room and took off my pants to get checked out. My water broke on the floor right there. Luckily, my appointments are at the hospital (Kaiser) so they sent me right down the hall to labor and delivery.

With DD my water broke at 40W 6D and it happened when I was being rushed in for an emergency c-section. Water broke in a gush before the doc and nurses got there shoe guards on and I ended up crying because I felt bad I just ruined everyones shoes. DD was a naughty baby and was going number 2 in the womb so it was really nasty water.

Pretty sure mine broke at home at 33 weeks - but it wasn't a gush just a tiny little trickle - I joked with DH about it that morning, went to work an entire day and finally around 4 when it was still a little damp, I called the doctor. I never thought it was actually my water breaking because I was so early! I did go to the hospital to get it checked out and sure enough it was amniotic fluid! Ended up being on bedrest for a week before I was induced at 34 weeks.

This time there is any little bit of dampness I start to freak out!

9:45 pm while I was sitting on the couch watching Lost. It seems most common that it happens when the person is sitting/sleeping or done by a doc. I heard/felt the "pop" and felt a little water....ran to the bathroom and the rest came gushing on out. No mistaking it. Most of it came out right away. This was at 39w5d. Contractions started at 11:30pm. Went to the hospital at 1:30 am. DS was born at 12:45pm the next day. Pretty textbook

I was 35w when mine broke. A couple we went to college with was getting married, and my water broke in the church during the ceremony.

With my first it didn't break on it's own .. the doctor broke it after I'd been in labour a few hours. With my second it broke while DH was running me through emerg to L&D .. all over the floor and wheelchair! She was born a few mins later

With DS, mine broke at 38w6d in bed at 1:30am. It woke me up & my first thought was that I wet the bed but it hit me pretty quick what it really was. I woke up DH & told him what happened. He said "What do we do? Should I get a book?" Um, no love, I think we are past the book stage, get teh phone so I can call the MW....

Mine broke at 35 weeks, 7:30am on a Sunday morning. Was fast asleep and felt a big pop. First I thought I wet myself but I realised pretty fast what happened. We had friends staying so I got up, went to the bathroom to sort myself out, said good morning to them like nothing was happening and went back into the bedroom to call the midwife. By noon I had been flown to hospital via helicopter and was about to have an emergency c-section as DS was breech. It was all over so fast!
