First, I just want to say this isn't directed at the pp who posted about a TOL... But more at doctors that use the term.
Does it make anyone else feel like the doctor is just waiting or you to fail so they can rush you into a c/s? It's not like this is used for women without a previous c/s who plan a vaginal birth and have to have an emergency c/s, so why with VBACs? Wouldn't everyone who isn't having a planned c/s technically be having a trial of labor then? Sorry, I know it's trivial, but it really gets on my nerves!
Re: Does the term "trial of labor" bother anyone else?
yeah actually it bugs me. Makes me think of being tested for physical fittness in PE class. I never could do the pull ups. Does that mean I will fail this "test of womanhood?"
Trail of labor... they just have to have a term for it, thats all. But it still bugs me.
Yes, it does bother me, because emotionally/psychologically I need to believe that I can and will have a VBAC. Not that I'm "trying."
So many of the official terms in ob/gyn care are misogynistic and demeaning to a woman's ability to birth. I try not to take offense, but it's hard not too.
I've never heard that! You're right.... That's worse!
oh, i thought of another good one ... 'incompetent cervix'
