Baby skin care question

Hi!

I have never posted here but I am hoping this is the right board that can help. My daughter is almost 20 months and we are struggling to find a lotion/soap/shampoo that will not dry out her skin/scalp. Its been an ongoing battle since she was born and we have tried a few things and just ended up sticking with the Johnson &Johnson stuff because it seems to be the least offensive.  We have tried Aveeno baby, Burts Bees Baby, and California Baby ( I am allergic to something in this) I would love to find something as natural as possible but dont want to spend a ton of money trying 10 more brands.

Can anyone recommend anything?

Re: Baby skin care question

  • We use the Angel Baby lotion and shampoo...well, she never seems to need the lotion. Hopefully not having SLS in the soap will help keep your baby from being over-stripped of her natural oils.

This is a great site for checking what's in products and how safe they are.

We also like California Baby products, but it sounds like you didn't have luck with them :(

  • It's not the most natural thing, but we've had a lot of luck with the Aveeno baby cream - the one in the tube, not the pump bottle.  Aquafor is also really good if her skin is really dry.  I agree though - finding a soap without lots of nasty stuff in it will likely help keeping her from getting too dry in the first place.  I also use Burts Bee's cream (can't remember the name, but it comes in a glass jar and is white) on her really dry patches.

This, and dilute it in a foaming pump. If she has sensitive skin, go easy on the amount you're using. Dr. Bronner's Baby is pretty mild. Good luck!
