rec your kiddo's music instruments

I think H would LOVE a guitar, a drum, maybe a horn and some other small instruments. I' not a fan of plastic nor do I want them to need batteries to work.

I'd prefer more realistic, but I don't think he needs a 100$ guitar :)

and go!

Re: rec your kiddo's music instruments

  • In our Music Together classes, we use:  Rhythm Band, Reno Kids, and Rhythm Tech, and Toca Percussion.  You can't go wrong with those instruments!  The Reno drums are great.

Also--I've heard Tara guitars are good for little ones.

    Good luck!

  • Loading the player...
  • You could also get a piano.  That's probably the only musical instrument DD plays with any regularity.

Other options: recorder, maracas, harmonica, small cymbals

  • We like the wooden Melissa and Doug musical instruments , but I don't think they make a guitar.

  • We have this guitar (or one pretty similar).  M loooves it and plays it all the time.  He also has a plastic one with buttons, etc that play music or drum sounds and he doesn't play with it nearly as much.  We also have this M&D band in a box but we've not given him all the pieces yet.  We have a wooden music table that has a drum, cymbal, and xylophone which M's great aunt gave him but I can't find a pic - I think it came from a museum gift shop.

ETA: we also have these bongo drums, but he doesn't play with them too much.  Usually if he wants us to play an instrument with him he will bring these to us.

  • awesome suggestions :)

    Thanks :)
