Parenting after 35

Hi there!

Hiya Ladies!

It's been about a million years so I thought I would stop by and say "hi!"

I am back at a work so naturally I wanted to get back to bumping too! The girls are doing great, Brigid is such a cool little person, I can't believe how big she is! Morgan had cochlear implant surgery just before her first birthday and she is doing pretty well with the the new "ears".

Great to "see" everyone again and I am looking forward to getting caught up on all the details. Smile

  • Howdy!  Nice to see you here - I rarely get over anymore, but glad to hear all is well.  How is Morgan's hearing with the implants?  Have you started with sign language?  How is that coming along?

  • Hi Carla!

We're doing about the same amount of signing with Morgan as we did with Brigid, just the basics. She understands signs but doesn't really sign back to me. We're really focusing on Oral-Deaf education with her to help her learn to listen and speak. She's just starting to hear some loud sounds now as we gradually turn up the programming on her implants. It's not an instant fix but it's encouraging to see her turn to her name (or a loud NO as she goes to take off her implants). Getting her to keep the processors on is the hardest part. It's like herding soaped-up angry cats in a dark room while you try to teach them to sing the ABC's. It's challenging to say the least.
