I recently bought Jack this babys first blocks set and he LOVES it. I'm not sure what he would have thought about it at 6 months but he loves it now and has already figured out how to ram the shapes through it or if he's tired he'll just take the top off and just put all the shapes in it....cheating the system.
He was also given a plain set of wooden blocks and he loves those. He loves stacking them and making towers with us so I'd defiantly get one of those.
He loves the Leap Frog fridge set thing. At first he just pushed it to make sounds and now is dancing to it but has figured out how to change the letter inserts. He'll change it out and dance then change it to a new one and then dance. I love it because it keeps him away from my oven and prep area while I'm in the kitchen.

DS has always been obsessed with blocks. He's gotten really good at putting things together with them. He managed to squeeze a block in between and under some blocks that were already on a structure he had previously built.
We have the Mega Blocks.
He also loves anything that can roll. Cars, trains, ambulances, fire trucks. You get the picture.
He also loves animal sounds so I know leap frog's got a fridge form and fridge jungle/forrest and you put the top and bottom together and it tells you made a match and sings. He could just sit there and press the buttons to get them to make noise forever. And he thinks it's funniest thing ever.
Re: Help shopping...Legos and 1 year old mommies...
