Can I just give birth to a toddler?

I'm a tiny bit scared to have a newborn again. I loved that stage, honestly. But toddlerhood is so much easier!

We're eating animal crackers and watching The Wiggles after our nap and I asked my son, "Is that a sheep?" He says, "Baaaaa!!!"

That being said, if I wasn't pregnant right now I know I would be so sad because he is getting so big! He's changing from a baby into a little boy before my eyes. Everyone said it would go by so fast but I had no idea!!

  • I know exactly how you feel.  I'm a little nervous about the breastfeeding and napping schedules again.  I'm also worried about what will happen when DD needs me while I'm breastfeeding and I won't be able to help.

That being said, I'm super excited about so many other parts about the newborn stage and I'm going to try to enjoy it during the short time that it lasts!

  • my first thought was OUCH!!!

toddlers are so much fun, watching them learn to express themselves and figure things out! cant wait until that stage!

  • ITA!  He is about 95% potty trained (started on Friday afternoon) and my life is amazingly easy right now.

  • OMG i would SOOO rather have an infant. The "NO" battles, etc. As fun and funny as she is, she was SOOO much easier as an infant... i hope her brother follows suit.

  • LOL I kinda have the baby fear too knowing that toddlers are so much easier because they can communicate. Everyone says you will learn the babies cry and know what they want but I still have that tiny bit of fear that "what if I don't know what she wants"

This scares me too! I felt like I knew my son's cries so easily but I'm afraid it won't be like that this time for some reason. I firmly believe that babies should come with an instruction manual.

  • There's a postive and negative to every stage of childhood, but toddlers are a bit more fun in my opinion. Their ability to interact, comprehend, and explore is so exciting, I really love it. But babies are so awesome too. I really love it all!

  • I agree!  I'm so nervous to go back to diapers and breastfeeding and up all night!  DD is pretty easy right now.  Though, as PP stated, I hate the "no" battles.  At least newborns can't talk back yet Stick out tongue

  • I'm with you 100%.  I didn't start to feel confident as a parent until DD was about 12 mo.  Babies are hard!  But they become so much more fun the older they get.

  • I'm definitely not a fan of the newborn stage, but I do love 4+ months, basically until they develop strong opinions on things like diaper changes, eating solid foods (or not eating, as the case may be), etc. Love my toddler so much - she's hilarious and so much fun, but there are some battles that I'll be ok doing without for awhile with #2!

Me too. My ds will be 18months when his little brother is born so we'll have a few months of both of them in diapers.
