(((StefandTodd)))

Just saw your post on mastitis... how are you feeling today??  I know that as soon as I started the antibiotics, I felt like a new woman by the next morning.  I hope the same can be said for you!  I'm so sorry you're dealing with that!

Re: (((StefandTodd)))

  • Thanks M! I thought of you yesterday cuz I remember that you had to deal with mastitis and thrush at the same time somewhat recently, right? :( Ugh, I can't imagine. I feel much better today already. It amazed me how quickly it came on...at 8am, I still thought I might go meet up with my girlfriend for a walk, by 9 I thought I was a little sore and tired and needed a nap, and by noon I had 102 fever. Crazy! Fortunately, the antibiotics and Tylenol are working quickly though too. Thanks again :)

Yes, it's amazing how quickly it knocks you down.  I had a very similar experience, but the saving grace was that just as quickly as it hit me, it went away after a dose of antibiotics.  The wonders of modern medicine...

If you do get thrush because of antibiotics, do you know what to do?  I don't want to give unsolicited advice, but I'll just share what worked for me.  The nurses at Kaiser told me to buy a basic tube of anti-fungal cream.  They said NOT to get the stuff used for yeast infections, but the kind used for athlete's foot.  :)  Pleasant, right?  Anyway, after nursing you let the nipple air dry then put some on- they told me to try to remember to wipe it off before nursing so H wouldn't ingest it.  I forgot a few times and freaked out a little (ok, a lot) but honestly... it soaked in so completely, there was nothing left to wipe off even when I did remember.  It took care of the thrush in just a few days.

    Good luck!  Get well soon!
