Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Baby seems to cry more when I enter the room...why?

My little bambino is 3 weeks and 4 days old. I am a new mom and and mostly the primary caregiver for the little one since I am a stay at home mom. So that entails mon-fri night and day care untill daddy comes home from work around 4 or 5 every night and relieves me of some duties to get things done around the house and give me a bit of a break until it's time for bed again. Lately I've noticed that when he (my son) is having  a little whining fit just and hour or 2 before we all retire to bed it seems to get a little worse or louder when he either heres my voice or when I enter the room........does anyone know the reason for this? I'm starting to think he doesn't like me anymore......:(

  • Are you nursing?  If so maybe he smells the milk and wants to nurse (either eat or just comfort suck).  Or maybe thats just his bad time of the day.  My daughter was always her fussiest between 5 and 6.

  • I don't think he doesn't like you. My opinion is he sees you and gets more anxious for you to pick him up. My dd is almost 3 months and after fussing for a bit I start to walk over to her and she starts bouncing and kicking her feet, almost like she's excited knowing I'm coming to get her. That's how I see it anyways?
  • I agree and my LO does the same- your baby is probably just more attached to you, since you spend more time with him. He wants your comfort and knows you are there since he can hear your voice. He doesn't "not like you"!

  • At this point LO has no other way to get your attention than crying.  Don't let it bother you.
