Austin Babies

I have to tell y'all something.....

I've kept this to myself about as long as I possibly can and now I need to spill my guts to a bunch of strangers Big Smile

So on Sept 29th I got a positive pregnancy test!! We are so excited and feel so blessed!!

On Nov 2nd at 9 weeks, I went in for my first ultrasound and my doctor immediately saw TWO BABIES!!!! TWO. TWO BABIES. No fertility meds, absolutely no family history, shock of our lives.....TWINS!!! Like seriously, total and utter shock.

We are processing a lot of emotions-excitement, fear, etc. We don't have any family in Austin and my husband works very long hours, so a toddler and two babies is really daunting for me. We're strongly considering the possibility of relocating closer to family so that we have help but my husband doesn't have the kind of job where he can just transfer at will, so we'll see....

I saw the perinatologist soon after my first appt and babies look great. They're measuring right on with when I thought I ovulated with strong hearbeats and they have separate sacs and separate placentas which is best case scenario for their growth, development and safety.  The only way we'll know in utero if they're fraternal is if they're boy/girl. If they're the same sex, we'll have to wait to find out when they're born.

My perinatologist feels that with my prior OB history and my current health and height that I will "sail through this to term" and I certainly hope that's the case. I am very low intervention when it comes to birth so one of the biggest things I'm working through is my thoughts/feelings/fears that I can still accomplish that.

My pregnancy symptoms are just the same as they were with my first--24/7 nausea and vomiting every day. Hopefully this go away by 20 weeks like it did the first time around.

Anyway, just needed to get that out there because I keep having questions I want to ask! Despite our fears, we know we are so blessed and fortunate- an amazing son, two healthy babies on the way, supportive family and a wonderful husband. I have another u/s the week after Thanksgiving and I will feel relief to see that they're both doing well as I start the second tri.

I would love any advice or encouragement that twin mamas can give me! And thank y'all in advance for answering the multitude of questions I'm sure to have.

P.S. Atlantic, were we drinking the same water, or what?!
