They told me in the hospital that it was normal for one side of the incision to hurt more than the other, but I'm nervous....it's the same side, every time I stand up or sit down or turn the wrong way, it feels like a hot iron being put on my skin. I have horrible bruising underneath the incision, more on that side than the other. I thought it was probably the bruising, but it makes me nervous. It almost feels like I'm going to pull out the stiches on that side every time I move too much. DH says (I can't really see the incision) that the incision/steristrips look really good, no oozing, no bleeding, and the bruise (which they told me at the hospital to keep an eye on) isn't getting any bigger. It hurts if I even touch the skin near it. I have to hold/push in that side every time I stand up or sit down or go to the bathroom.
Is anyone else experiencing uneven pain like this? Since the very first time I started to get a little feeling back in the hospital (even before I was up & around), it was hurting more on that side, so I don't think I did anything to injure it. I'm starting to get nervous for when I run out of pain meds....but I don't want to take the percocet every 4 hours like it says because I'm afraid of pooping, too.
Sigh....and believe it or not, this is a much better recovery than my vaginal birth!
Re: How do you know when something is wrong with the internal sutures?

Well, with the 3-year-old acting out in a MAJOR way, I'm definitely on my feet & not resting like I'd like to be, but I haven't been lifting anything heavy or moving too fast or going up & down the stairs too much. It's been like this since the hospital, I'm just on less pain meds than I was there. I don't think I injured it, I'm just nervous because it seems weird that one side hurts more than the other. It's hurting less today (well, I'm going like 8 hours between percocets instead of 4-6 like yesterday)
I think I'll give it another day or two & if it's still bad I'll call...
Thanks everyone :-)
One side of my incision hurt more than the other as well. I often felt like things were tearing if I moved a certain way. It hurts. I think as long as it's not getting worse, or your not in extreme pain, things sound normal. They are pretty rough on your insides during a section, it's no wonder it hurts so bad afterwards.
I've never had a vag delivery, but that's crazy that you section is an easier recovery! That must have been a bad delivery!
