I too would like to hear any opinions on our name choice. DS #2 will
be joining big brother Owen. We think we'll go with Mason as the fn, but having trouble deciding on the mn.
Mason Madrid (Kl...)
This is our top choice. Madrid is my Grandmother's family/maiden name because we are of Spanish heritage. I've just never heard it as a middle name. We are pretty ethnically diverse in our family so I think it works, and the combination sounds good with our last name too (Kl...). My grandmother's health is deteriorating quickly and I have always been quite close to her. I like the idea of giving my child this family name and I know she would be honored, but most people would assume it is just a reference to the city in Spain...where, coincidentally, I studied abroad 10 years ago.
A 'safer' choice would be:
Mason Le
As a nod to my husband's mother's maiden name (she is Vietnamese) and DH's middle name. It is pronounced like "lei." I think the names sound nice together with our last name. But this name would also work well with a little girl (which we're hoping for at some point) and Madrid wouldn't as well.
Any thoughts?
TIA!
Re: Naming baby boy #2
I like Mason Madrid.
Really, people don't say the middle name and, if you're the sort to yell out their entire name when you're angry, Mason Madrid has a real good ring to it.
My son has a really bizarre middle name (more "weird" to ppl than Madrid) & it only gets spoken by me when I catch him doing something he's not supposed to do. Ever. Middle names are perfect choices for honoring someone w/out having to be overly concerned if you'd be saddling your kid with something they'd have to explain, spell or pronounce for the rest of their lives.
Mason Madrid is a cute name!
I would save Le for a girl, if you have anymore.

I like Mason Madrid - both the sound and the reason. Save "Le" for a girl...either her middle name, or incorporate it into a first name ("Leilani," "Lorelei," and "Leighton" are the only things that come to mind offhand, but I'm sure there are better choices out there!).
I've heard of a few girls named Mason recently (that lousy trend of feminizing-a-masculine-name). But just in case you care, I think "Madrid" would be the stronger, more boy-sounding choice to go with Mason.
