... i think i hear my heart breaking. The little girl's just going for a 1/2 day today and thursday and a full day next week before she goes full time the following week. She seemed mildly confused but not upset when i left. Once i talked to her and snuggled her and handed her over smiling, i walked out of the room and refused to look back, afraid my resolve would crumble and i would snatch her back with me. I, of course, have been crying the whole way home.
Tell me this gets easier.
Re: First day of daycare....
It gets easier! I cried every day for the first week dropping DD off.
WnW is right - get out there and do stuff that you can't do with her in tow. Get a haircut, a massage, a mani/pedi, etc. It is so hard to do it if you are just sitting at home missing her!
You will both get through this and it will be great!
*hugs* it does get easier, crying is totally normal! Remember, it's a lot harder on you than her
It really does get easier, but it takes time. She needs to get used to the new routine, and so do you. It might be hard to imagine now, but there will be a day when you're glad that she can go to daycare so you can have a sick day/go shopping/whatever.
If it helps, when we pulled up to daycare today J yelled "Yay!"

Thanks ladies! Well, I survived. i cried for about an hour and then, thankfully, had a ton of cleaning to do around the house because my dad is coming in for the week. That kept me busy and from thinking about it too much. The tears came again when my husband checked in on me but, by then, i was twenty minutes away from picking her up.
If you remember, i had to do the bottle bootcamp and was worried about how she would eat. Well, no worries there. She sucked down 2 four oz bottles in four and half hours. She apparently had the caretakers in hysterics because she was laughing and smiling at her mobile and the other babies. And while she had one meltdown episode, when i arrived, she was sleeping in her crib like an angel. It did my heart good.
Thank you for the support - i haven't gotten a haircut in ages so, next time she goes (thursday), i'm going to try to plan for one. It's strange not having her with me but it helps knowing it will get easier. Maybe one day the little girl will also say "Yay!" when we pull up to daycare ;-)
My son went to daycare 4 days last week, and on 3 of those days he did NOT want to come home with me! He was having too much fun playing. It's a lot easier to not feel guilty when they can tell you they're having a good time.
You're braver than I am! My LO has been in daycare since September, and I still haven't done drop-off, although I do pickup a couple of times a week.
I'm glad it went well -- I can tell LO gets so much out of daycare. He loves watching big kids wherever we go, and I'm sure it's because the big kids at his daycare play with him.
